Did you remove the OEM one?My magnaflow was stupid annoying after a little while too, I put a Vibrant UltraQuiet resonator in the system and it took the drone out of it almost entirely.

I am using the diagnostic port under the hood. How are you connecting the scanner to the ECM?
Just as an FYI the Snap On MT2500 works on OBD2 cars and trucks too. Snap ON supported the MT2500 up till the 2008 model year with software updates that could be reprogrammed on the tool truck on a new style RAM cartridge that Snap On offered in the early 2000's.MT2500 is an old Snap-On OBDI scanner, he might have the Toyota plug and chip (they used little game cartridge looking things containing the definitions for the manufacturer) for it actually, which is fairly rare. You can also measure and graph the O2 voltage response from the Diag port in the engine bay as well.

With that new RAM cartridge you could update all the different manufacturers info for the upcoming year onto one cartridge without having to buy a different cartridge for each and every car manufacturer.
LX450 with super charger, CX Racing headers and 3" custom over the frame exhaust. J-pipe to reduce the drone at 2700rpm/75mph. 4.88 gears and 35" tires.
Sound clip with spectrograph:I had put headers on my '78 FJ40 over 25 years ago and had always lusted after them for the 80 series. Found them on line and ordered them. Did not realize they cut off the feed for the EGR, but found a way around that. Scottsdale Muffler in AZ is the bomb for custom exhaust work. Chris and crew are awesome. They got the exhaust over the frame behind the cats. I had 4 repairs on this section due to it hanging below the frame before. Greg's Japanese in Chandler helped me delete the rear heater and some I do not have to worry about melting the heater hoes above the frame where the...
The shop had to cut and re-weld cylinder #2 pie to clear the supercharger body. This is so-so sound quality and worse video! I was recording the frequency spectrum vs speed by taking a video of a tablet running two apps. The site won't let me post here. Hopefully this link to YouTube works. The J-pipe length was tuned to eliminate the drone at 75MPH/2800rpm, and you can see the peak dB at around 120Hz roll off at 75MPH. This is about 45 seconds into the clip. I was driving one handed while recording and got too nervous to push it faster.
Ulysse Speedometer app (on the left) lets you do 1/4 mile, 0-60, and 0-100 timings and speedometer using GPS. Physics...
The J-pipe is the 2" dead end section that points to the driver's side. Muffler ahead of the rear axle and two resonator's behind.

**These headers block the EGR port at the block**Small world I also had my exhaust reworked at Scottsdale muffler on my 80 back in the day. Any idea what the length and diameter of your helmholtz resonator is (j-pipe thing)?
The factory uses 2 1/8" pipe size
This is my 3" at the rear diff. Lost a little cross section area due to the bends, but still pretty good.Crushed as flat as a pancake at the rear diff!
To answer your question, yes, my scanner came with a connector that plugs right into the DLC. No need for paper clips or jumpers to read my trucks trouble codes. So you have a SnapOn connector for the DLC1?
Custom 3" under the frame no cats.

He’s got a weird muffler upstream that dumps it into the passenger fender well…Looks well made.
Can't help but see this straight shot to the bottom of the exhaust manifolds

If you don't want/ need cats, this is way nicer path than up/down/looped around the frame path toyota

I puchased the Magnaflow header+cat and the second cat and had an independent shop put them on 8 years ago and they are still going strong. So, YMMV.Find a competent local hot rod fabricator or exhaust shop and have them do a custom setup.
I've installed a "Brexhaust" setup (Magnaflow) for a friend, and it failed within 6 months. They have warranted it, which is great...but now I gotta do the work again. It was a direct bolt-in setup, and was pretty cheap...
I'm putting a turbo on my truck next week, and the exhaust from the downpipe back will be custom fabricated stainless steel, with v-band clamps and nice hangers to make it easy to service.
Do you have any videos of your 3" exhaust? Most videos i can find are for 1FEs with turbos.
