1997 LX450
part 17581a
which side goes up?
A or B?
anyboy has a way to find out?
thanks!

I never knew that part existed. I wonder if that's part of the random clunking that goes on down there sometimes.

It is a counterweight that dampens vibrations. If memory serves your "A" side would be the top.

I mounts to a bracket that is welded to the stock tail pipe. It would probably not be useful with custom or aftermarket exhaust since it would not resonate/vibrate in the same manner as the OEM pipes.

I finally replaced my EMS exhaust with toyota hardware/gaskets and reproduction parts from cruiserparts.net. (OEM exhaust a little too $$$$)
The reproduction parts have the mount for the dampener, So on it goes!

That EMS was the worst thing I ever did to my truck, loud, droney, poor fit, and IMO, poor quality welds.
Should have known, not like it made a slow truck any faster.

with the original design back on, I can enjoy things like radio, conversation and sanity.

While I'm here, does mount #1's hose clamp thingy go around the downpipe?
Missing that part, and doesn't make sense to solidly mount the pipe to the frame?
Thanks!

The clamp (which is serviced with the OEM front exhaust pipe) goes around the tab on the bracket numbered 17572 in the illustration you posted. That bracket bolts to the bellhousing.

Didn't find a part # for the clamp, just the bolt. thanks for the info, clamping to bellhousing makes sense

When you see an item in the illustration that is not called out it is sold as a part of what it is attached to.

I used a standard muffler "saddle clamp" on my wife's 95. I don't recall the diameter off hand. Maybe 1 3/4 inch?

Can someone take a pic installed? I couldn't see it on mine.

Best angle I could get. Dark brown band on the upper exhaust pipe is the clamp.. appears to be flat steel with a tab bent down under the bolt head to prevent crushing the pipe by overtightening.

Sorry for sounding completely drunk. Siri sort of helped me avoid dirtying my phone with greasy hands. The deciphered version is, “anyone know the bolt size and pitch for the bell housing exhaust bracket mount?

91651-41020 is the part number for the correct fastener.

It will be 10 x 1.25mm and about 20mm long.
