How many banana job to do install?

Easy when the KDSS valves are loosed, it makes compressing the KDSS pistons on each swaybar a bit easier. Only awkward part was tightening the rear 21mm nut on top of the bilstein shocks

@NoClue yes this. It looks like you used perch 5 for the front, I'm curious if it gives the actual 2.6" lift referenced in the docs? It seems like other people had less, about 2.2" lift using perch 5. I'm trying to see how consistent people's numbers are so hopefully I can get it right the first time and not have to readjust. I'm aiming for 2" so I can maintain some forward rake, but a bit more than 2" lift is okay too. I'm thinking perch 4 is probably right for me.
That depends on how much weight you have on the front

Good point. I'm stock up front, other than my Slee slider steps (which would have their weight about evenly distributed front and back). If you got 2.4" lift up front with steel bumper and winch (on perch 5), then it seems reasonable to me to assume I'll get at least 2" with a stock frontend on perch 4. Each perch is supposed to be a difference of 0.4" from the perches next to it.

I am leaning heavily towards the Bilstein kit. Thanks @NoClue for the info and pics. Care to share any full pics of your LC?

for sure. It's a work in progress

Bilstein springs for rear 53-292018
The front shocks came with matched springs as a kit 47-273146
RR Shock: 25-285529
LR: Shock: 25-291810

2.4ish front with steel bumper and winch, 2 in the rear
Thx. I did a quick search and it seems you can find these from several distributors, but none really had “the package”, requiring some research to piece together... Would you share who you purchased from?

AJ USA has "the package", and the cheapest prices I could find. Here's the full package including rear springs for $1360:

A flex-head wratcheting wrench makes quick work of this.

I seem to remember the stock nut being 22mm so you might need two..

Yes, the stock nut is 22 but the bilstein nut is 21. You also need an adjustable wrench to hold the shaft so it doesn't spin as you're tightening down the nut. On the stock rear shocks, I used a vise grip to hold the shaft shield to prevent it from spinning. Can't do that on the bilsteins

I'm running an OME lift, I didn't see the need to pay double for the fancy kits and things I wouldn't use. I'm happy with my kit and it handles really well. Regular driving I like how its firmer than my tired suspension used to be, along with no nose dive anymore under braking. I don't think I'll ever upgrade to the adjustable kits or ones with bypass, the type of wheeling I do is slow and technical. Only thing I'd do different next time around is have gotten the new ARB UCA as well.
I’ve had OME on two of my previous 200’s and now I’m running ICON 3.0. The comparison is night and night. OME on a 200 is like driving around in 1ton truck with stiff leaf springs, handles just as bad around corners and bounces over every speed bump. ICON 3.0 is the complete opposite. I can take corners so much faster and controlled without feeling it’s going to tip over and speed bumps are soaked up like riding in a Cadillac. Having adjustable suspension allows you to really hone in on how you want your SUV to respond. You don’t have have to be a hardcore off-roader to appreciate it. The cost is well worth it.

How much, and are the rear shock rods exposed ?

Truck felt loose, top heavy, less stable.
I drive like a mad man at times,

It depends on what stage you do. Mine is stage 6 and you get shin guards. Nice job installing the blisteins. Looks good

Had OME. Dumped it for custom tuned Kings. Still cheaper than ICON. I ran ICON previously, never again. OME worked fine, Kings worked better. ICONs were not worth the money whatsoever.
What is your King setup? I have icon 3.0 and have been very happy with them. 30k miles on them without issue. What about the icon disappointed you? What have you noticed about the Kings to be superior over icon? My next set might be kings when I need to rebuild the icons.

Having never ridden in a vehicle with the fancy suspension I don't know what I'm missing and I think I want to keep it that way haha! I've seen a few people post on here with issues with their ICON shocks failing and things like that which made me think they weren't as good as the hype. Also do ICON shocks need to be serviced? But the adjustability is great for what you mentioned, and having an 08 LC I look at it as a truck/tool more so than luxury like I would with a newer one.

I am running the King 2.5s with valving built for my weight and build through filthy motorsports. I have had them for about 15k now. Love them. I started running Icons before they were Icons and called Donahue Racing coilovers. I had shaft seal leaks and I had top mount failures on both the front coilovers and the rear shock top mounts. The thread in design is a common failure you've seen here on the board. Additionally, for the price paid, I expect top shelf customer service. I had warranty claims denied for clear product failures. Icons look pretty and their price reflects that, but their performance doesn't. They're great while they're working but my down time from failures was frustrating and disappointing. This was on an 01 tacoma and an 04 tundra.

Kings have provided me a more compliant ride and meet my use case for my build and how I wheel in colorado. I had zero reason to upsize to the 3.0 Kings. Way overkill. I am not running long washboards or need a lot of high speed damping. I'd never use them to capacity.

Time will tell if the Kings hold up better than the Icons. I don't have the mileage totals personally to comment. My only frustration with the Kings is the tubing to the remote reservoirs has proven to be a pain with rubbing on full left lock. I'll eventually get that all dialed in.

Yep Icon shocks will need to be serviced/rebuilt at certain intervals. I agree with your philosophy on suspension! Most will be happy with a less fancy setup, and the extra worries about leaks, rebuilds, etc. are just not worth it for me.

If you want adjustability but a more reliable shock, I would definitely look at Ironman Foam Cell Pro or the Bilstein 6112/5160 setup. I believe Tough Dog also has an adjustable option.

I can vouch for the Tough Dog 45mm adjustable option. A step above the Toyota OEM setup. Mine have 45k on them and show no signs of wearing out.

Ignoring the durability and maintenance for a moment, I'm sure bypass Kings or Icons would be an even better ride.
