This is a complete rewire of an FJ40 1974. New OEM 55AMP alternator. I have read the threads on this and having rewired a few cars now I am not a novice nor am I anywhere near an expert. In fact, all my prior rewiring never touched on an ammeter....

So pardon the rudimentary drawings but would someone with some confidence and experience help if my drawings below are correct or if there is a better alternative?

Thanks!

You would need the later style 50A ammeter to use a shunt. But hen you’d also have to figure out the proper size shunt for the gauge. I believe there was another thread on here somewhere where somebody was working on that.
