I’ve been searching mud but having trouble finding something similar. 2004 LC, 180k miles has developed a loud whirring noise, sound seems to be coming from front passenger side area of engine. It’s my son’s vehicle and before taking it to our mechanic, wanted to try and pinpoint if possible. Video link below after cold start, I believe there’s a pulley squeaking as well. Thanks for your help.

Sound a bit like vane pump power (steering pump). Could also be Alternator failing sound/signs. We've also fan bracket and, fan belt pulleys bearing, and those of Timing belt and water pump to consider.

$15 mechanics Stethoscope is very hand.

Start by check pulleys. It's a processes of elimination.

Thank you, I'll see if I can narrow it down.

For what it's worth, when my original alternator started to fail, it sounded nothing like that at all. It was a constant higher-pitched squeal, not a squeak like you're hearing (in addition to the loud lower pitch buzz).

belt tensioner is always a usual culprit, but i am not necessarily familiar with this engine
