chicken :flipoff2:

there's girls in here that have rebuilt more than just a 2F in their 60. so don't be so emphatic with the nope.
the one that comes to mind is a bad ass work in progress n it looks like she'll never give up.
I'm emphatic because I just finished completely restoring an FJ60 that I sold on BaT, and I don't want to do it again because I know what it took to get it there.

so now you've got a leg up on what's involved. that alone should give a %age of cut in time n funds. no, that is not washing with this old hard edged gearhead 😤

I've been through this before, just don't have it in me, or the time, for a second go round.
Then don’t do it. Give the truck some heart or don’t bother and let someone else who really wants to do it themselves.

I’ll chime in here and say that do what’s best for you. I’m in the process of rebuilding my truck and due to heavy time commitments for work, plus keeping this project on a reasonable schedule, purchasing a rebuilt engine is a great option. This has allowed me to focus on other parts of the truck that need attention while I await an engine built to my specification. Ive spent so much time sourcing, rebuilding and installing unique parts like fog lights withOE switches, winches, bumpers, battery trays, a fridge, roof racks etc etc that having someone else handle the engine is fine by me. I toyed with the idea of doing the engine with a local shop but it started to turn into a real time sink so I went and used a reputable shop out west. Best of luck and enjoy your next build.

cheers, James

Some peoples time is better spent working at what we do best, rather than limping through while taking time away from our day jobs.

I can’t be the Master of all trades, but I’m glad to pay someone to use their skills and experience for my benefit.

I don’t get how people are telling you to rebuild the engine yourself and questioning your decisions.

Find a good place and save your talents for something else.

I’m sorry I spoke so critically. I wish managing through life was easy for all of us, definitely including me, but it isn’t.
If I had the money I’d call three shops, read reviews and then pick one.

We are all wrench spinners first and hand offers second. But I personally am always amazed that some people will do the hard work for you and all you have to do is give them money 😁

Sorry to be such a disappointment!! :p
no disappointment here, you're not my son :flipoff2: .
i just try to encourage pushing the edges of the envelope. read that 'rip them to shreds'. n it's usually with all the tact of a 12lb sledge hammer
in the end, every one of us does what works for us, all others be damned.
may your wrenches spin freely

Looking forward to dropping this fresh goodness into the 60 soon! This will allow me the time to geek out on my wiring project in the truck in order to make it super safe and sano for our New England class 4 streams, I mean roads…
