I bought a 73 fj40 witha 350 in it already. Engine is shot so will a 327 or 283 bolt right up to the bellhousing. Also what radiator do you use with out overheating. Using stock 3 speed money is tight so any other options would be great.
327s have a lack of accesory bolt holes on the front of the heads. You will have a hard time finding bracketry and stuff. Stick with a 305 or 350. Or I suppose you could use your 350 heads on your 327 short block.
I once ran a 327 and the only hole I needed that wasn't already there was easily drilled and tapped without even pulling the engine. If you have the choice go with a truck small block 350 (four bolt mains). They will out chug any car motor.
