Seals and gaskets should always be OEM. See Onur (=Beno) at American Toyota for great service and pricing. Or, introduce yourself to Jim and Tom at the counter and make sure they know you are involved with HDC.

Engine vs. axle. Your truck is not moving, so the engine should be a priority over the axle.

Engine is definitely the priority, axle rebuild was the backup in case people were busy over Thanksgiving. I'll have to stop by American or give them a call today.

Seals and Gaskets ordered... glad I got on this today, sounds like I got the next to last set available in the US right now.

If there is a way to move your cruiser after we pull the engine we can do it at my house.

Do you have idea how long you need your engine out?

Una cosa mas, how much of the palladium grease should I need for the axle rebuild? I figured I could buy a bunch and at worst have extra on hand for the future.

I'd buy three cartridges. You'll probably end up using one cartridge per side and you will not need a large grease gun. Simply open the pop top and squeeze the cartridge into the cavity. Pick up a medium size rubber spatula to help with the evacuation of the old grease and the application of new grease into the cavity.

Paul-
Not sure, if I decide to have Bud do the crank install, it should only take a day. I am kind of leaning that way to simplify and to get the FJ back on the road faster. So I am guessing I would need to have it out for at least 2-3 days, one for crankshaft/bearing work etc, and a couple more to reassemble the engine and put it back in. I have never done an engine reassemble, so I am not sure if I am being optimistic with the timeframe. Thoughts?
