Sand in engine

I was poking around the engine compartment and found the air filter box lid loose. One of the clamps was not locked down. Pulled the throttle body and found sand just inside the intake manifold.

Need to see how much and where the sand went.

Upper and lower intake manifold removed. This is what I found at the head.

This gunk was rubbed between my thumb and forefinger and there was no solid abrasive feel. I got lucky, but sand may have entered the engine. Periodic leak down tests are in order.
