I have an engine I am trying to identify. If I recall it is an 1.5f out of an early 70's rig, but went to the casting numbers for clarity, and could not find a thread with answers.

Head casting is 60060 in left side on head top, then 0918 263

Here is what I found elsewhere

61031 is 2f head from 75-80.
61040 is 2f head from earlier 2f
81050 is 3f head, sometimes put on late year 2f engines.

This came from @FJ40Jim

If it is a 61030 to 61032, then it still has a 75-80 style head and uses the corresponding gasket set. If number is 61010, 61040 or higher, it is a closed chamber head and uses the 81-later 2F gasket set.

Engine casting number reading for date codes:

From the engine casting numbers on the side of engine it reads 20915

2 09 15 is in the Y MM DD format. So it is a 1972 september 15th casting I believe.

Well,

The block is not F1.5, as it does not have an oil filter housing on the right side of the engine.

The F1.5F is a 1974 (10/73-12/74) only.

:meh:

So, being made in 72, is this head a 1F engine?

looking at the fancy computer it has this listed for head part numbers.

11101-60072 (09/1969 - 02/1972)
11101-60074 (04/1972 - 08/1972)
11101-60090 (09/1972 - 08/1973)
