I've always found it difficult to locate the dipstick to check oil. It's difficult to locate the dipstick tube to replace the dipstick once oil has been checked. Today I added 3 lights to my engine bay. One on each side of the engine and one on the hood that points down to the air cleaner.
The switch is located on the drivers side close to the inner fender.

I like that idea. I absolutely hate dodging my lamp and power cord and I can never get it pointed exactly where I need it... not to mention having to clean glass off the driveway in the dark when you bust the bulb with a wrench.

FYI - unless you have capped it internally, that forward-facing pipe on your air cleaner is sucking dirty air into your engine.

For what it’s worth, there is an air filter inside the air cleaner. Hence, the nomenclature.

I think they mean the open PCV-type little tube on top/front that appears to dump air in after the filter right into the carb no?

That approximately 1” diameter tube pointing straight forward off of the air filter assembly is post filter. @SteveH is absolutely correct, hence his post.

OP - next time you pull the dipstick, dip the end of it in some bright colored rust paint. Makes finding it easier.

Lol yeah I totally missed that. My bad.

A 1" crutch tip, sold in a 4 pack at Walmart, slides over that AIR pump tube on the air cleaner, and gives you 3 spares to use when they slowly rot out due to engine heat.

X2 on the crutch tip. I have a couple that have been in place for ca. 10 years without degradation.

Good point - I put a crutch tip on it this morning.

I have an extra at home i'll have to look, will make a note to.
It isn't a kit. I bought the three lights from All Electronics. I already had the switch. I think I paid about $25 because the side lights were a little pricey. Now that I think about this - this thread should probably be in the "less than $50 mod" section.
