Wondering if anyone has used a product like this before that can replace a valve stem from the outside of the wheel

Amazon product ASIN B07MQFZMXK
Running stock wheels, I'm always concerned about getting into an obstacle off-road that could potentially rip the valve stem off. Hasn't happened yet, but I've got enough lip rash and gouges on the spokes to suggest this could happen in the wrong circumstance. A buddy has unbeaded his tire breaking off his TPMS internally, but fortunately the rest of the valve stem held.

Just ordered a set for my emergency repair kit just in case.

Can't comment on Amazon's offering but I have used similar products from Colby and they work to get you off the trail. You will have interior portion of your stock setup bouncing around inside of the tire unless you break the bead and remove. Colby products are first class.

Might be a good idea to have it in the tool kit.

This is also the only reason I keep the rock ring on the Rock Warriors, they protect the valve stem.

Somehow I have a hard time keeping them with friends that can't avoid rocks and roots. I then remind myself the group travels at the speed of it's slowest member and Amazon doesn't do off road deliveries. Another critical item is a Schrader valve or two.

I have a Colby valve in my cargo box. Since my rims have 2 valves each I figured it was worth the small cost and weight.

Great feedback. Looks like Colby's are well regarded.

Tossing a couple in my kit

Won a pair of Colby's in a raffle years ago and had placed them in the glove box in our 80, then moved them to the 200. They came in clutch when moving a trailer on some of the family's ranch property. As soon as I got internet service I ordered several more pair. Now, I've a pair in each LC and an extra in the tool box.

Also adding that Colbys work, and i always carry a set

I was literally just wondering about this last night. Ordered a set!

The 4Runner TRD OR wheels I had on my GX protect the stem pretty well but I dont think I can say the same about my Methods for the LX.

Several flavors. Hope I landed on the right one and I got the Colby permanent valve flavor.

I always have tools with me (requires a 1/2" or 13mm socket or wrench.) I was concerned the emergency valve wings will hit certain profiles of wheels. The shorty valve may not be deep enough, again to clear certain profiles. XL is made for tractors and won't fit passenger car wheels.

The permanent valve looks to the same(or very similar to) as the emergency valve, just with the hex nut. You could probably buy the emergency valve and pick up a hex nut that threads on to make it the permanent valve? That way you have the wing nut as backup in case you dont have a socket.

Not a bad idea. Could depend on whether the plastic spacer under the wing nut is one component or two. That spacer is probably important as some of the wheels have a deeper seated valve stem.

I ordered the emergency version so I will update once I get them on what it is.

I use Colby Valves - actually had a trip with a 110 where 3 of them failed (this was not long after import from south africa.. to be fair and it was still on old tires) out at Cape lookout; So they saved my Bacon... and i actually forgot to pull them out when i changed tires, so they were in there for at least 30K miles on the new set.
Never an issue.

Something that also works if you do it right is the Glue tread.... Just take your time and read and follow the directions.

The Duke Boys are gunna feel this one.

This is the construction of the emergency valve. Its a rubber plug for the hole in the wheel, thats topped with metal washer, then the single unit wingnut/spacer is plastic with a brass threaded insert. The brass insert extends 1/3 to 1/2 the depth of the wing nut.

So it looks like its a cross between the permanent valve and the ultimate valve. Its the length of the permanent valve but uses the washer like the ultimate valve.

Have you checked to see if the Colby valve will function with alphaequipt wheels?

I purchased metal valve stems…only to find out the shape of the alphaequipt valve stem holes don’t seem to allow for them to be installed.

The 'Emergency valve'? And it's blocked by that circular valve guard? Yes, but I also think that the guarded valve is VERY unlikely to get damaged. I do worry about the 2nd valve where I have the high flow valves. Those are unguarded, and that valve is a little taller. I'm carrying the Colby for that side. Did you have trouble fitting them there too?

I had a regular valve give way yesterday…replaced at a tire shop today for $15.

Ideally, in the future, I’d prefer an at home (or trail side) repair…I saw your post in my research and I understand you have similar wheels to mine.

Hence I was wondering if you’d tried the install of the colby-since different wheels have different quirks to them.
