Congrats Congrats!!! Nice rigs!!!:D

more info on the custom vss? Did you have some of the shaft sticking out of the inspection cover? I'm looking at mine and am having a hard time seeing where you would attach the gear to.
thanks

delayed response is better than no response.

thanks

I did have a small length of shaft sticking out past the stake nut. I machined the stake nut down a bit to allow more shaft exposure and to properly attach the VSS gear. I also added 2 more set screws to insure the gear wasnt going anywhere. Also a little locktite never hurts. I havent had any problems with my setup yet.........knock on wood

Macking some progress on my piece........
finally got my poly bushing and greasable shackle bolts in, finished my overkill 3" exhaust, relocated my computer, built/installed shock hoops and bought/installed some 5100 bilstiens, installed gauge panel, thats about it. Here is a pic of my one year old in the truck........

I really hate to do this but..........

Trying to get a feel of what you guys think I could sell my cruiser for. Haven't made a ton of progress in the past few years and have decided that I may not finish it and even if I do it will not be the way it should be finished.

The good: Engine and transmission from 2005 avalanche 5.3l, 4l60E mild tune, LS1 intake and injectors. 3" exhaust, SOA, Cut and Turn, Homebrew 4L60 to Splitcase adapter, two stick transfer case edit for 2wheel high and low, long travel shocks, braded long travel brake/hose extensions grease-able shackles, poly bushings, custom gauges in custom instrument panel, indash CD player nice upgraded stereo with small 8" sub in rear. Front axle bearings, knuckle rebuild when cut and turn performed. Frame and axle surface rust removal, painted/preserved. I'm sure I've missed a few things but that is the guts of the improvements.

The not so good: Usual rust spots, rear wheel wells, rad support (batt side), one small spot on pass side rear quarter glass opening, passenger side rocker panel front section. Could use a dash cap/pad. 31x10.50x15 uniroyal at good tread but a little thread cracks in between the tread.

The truck runs and drives fantastic but it looks a little rough due to the stage of rust repair that it's in. My main question to you guys is: Would it be in my best interest to repair the rust spots (prime/paint) to get truck to a more visual appealing ride or am I just wasting my time and I should sell it outright. I really think it would make someone an awesome vehicle with a small amount of work/money. I realize it is hard to judge by my outdated thread pictures the current state of the truck so I will post some pictures tomorrow or the next day in order to make it a bit more clear. In the mean time go pack over my build thread and tell me what you think, good/bad/indifferent please don't hold back I hate to part with it but I feel like "ELSIE" is being neglected and needs a better home and as much as it kills me :crybaby: to consider going thru with this I feel like some cruiser head out there will give the truck a better home that I.

-Oh yeah and if anyone is interested let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

Does it have ac and all the smog stuff hooked up?

Honestly if you button up the loose ends Get some tires on it, take care of the body and the above is good you will get significantly more money for it. Probably over 10k

The last 5.3/4l60e that ran but wasn't all the way finished for sale with a pretty good body and good tires sold for 3500$. I think you could do a little better if you were patient. The people that have good money to spend on a cruiser don't want a project and the ones willing to do some work want a heck of a bargain.

Thanks for the input, well stated Kurtis. I agree, looked at receipts last night and compared to what I've spent I think 5 to 6 K would be acceptable. I think I'll put a bit more work/time/money into it and give someone a rig that's a bit closer to a daily driver than to sell it as is and lose a bit of cash. thanks guys, knew I could count on MUD for honest input. I'll try to post some pics of my progress the closer I get to selling it.

I have been kicking around the Idea of buying a FJ60 and throwing in a LS. The key is daily driver and I would have to drive it to Tucson, which wouldn't be bad.

What is the story with the truck. Daily? Done for someone to drive it 3000 miles? can you send pics to dave.gabe@gmail dot com
