I am issue with my 94 land cruiser. Last year we took it to a local off road park and after awhile the voltage light and all the other lights came on. I figured, crap my alternator is bad. We stayed on the trails for a few hours with out any issues, besides the lights on. I was even able to drive home. Since it never died, I assumed water hit either the alternator or wire. Earlier in the year I took the land cruiser to pick my kids up from school (school is in my neighborhood, maybe a five minute walk). The lights were still on but the land cruiser never died. If something got wet it should have dried... Any idea what the problem could be?

What were "all the other lights" that came on?

I started it. Unhooked the negative cable on the battery and it died instantly. Im guessing its the alternator.
LOL. That is not a valid test of anything.
I will ask again, what is the voltage across the battery terminals without the engine running and with the engine running?

I've been told to try it by several mechanics. I dont have a voltage meter.

As everyone else has said, get a multimeter and test it yourself.

I was having issues where my charge light would come on, radio would shut off, etc while driving.

I thought it was alternator/battery related, but it was the fusible link that was bad. $15 part fixed it.

Was this what you saw? This happened on my son in laws 80 this past Saturday morning, only when you put it in gear.....all lights went out after 5 min of idling in the driveway. Fusible Link?

Zero in on your alternator.

13.5 volts when off. Its been sitting at 12.2 when running with the ac on (ac is not getting cold all the sudden)12.39 with the ac off.

My power steering is shot. Since the ac isn't working now could all of this be because of the power steering? Its almost impossible to turn the wheel now.

Fluid level? Are your belts slipping?

I don’t think they’re slipping but the look pretty chewed up even though they’re fairly new.

ive always had a leak in the power steering. Fluid is low in the power steering but fine everywhere else. before even off the power steering fluid was low there would still be some sort of power steering. Now there’s nothing. I’m out of atf. I have to purchase more.
