well, it's been a week...... anything yet?

Not good news...

I got an email from Ehsan at 3:30am stating that Customs had unpacked everything during their inspection processs and that they were repacking it all. He also said that it would take two days to do this.

Does Ehsan charge you extra to have to repack everything again, or is this part of his service and he takes the chance himself?

Jeremy

All part of the service!

I can just imagine what a "Paki repack process" must look like: would make a good "caption this" for a Friday

Customs sucks. I have first hand experience with them. They will sieze a shipment of mine. Unload the whole freeking thing (40ft) and then cut up a piece of my product to see what it's made of and then throw all the stuff back in no particular order. Then I have to foot the bill for them doing the inspection. It generally takes 2-10 days to resolve issues. And this was in the U.S.

Got my fingers crossed.

In previous orders, Ehsan put everything in clear bags tomake them visible, and attached photos of the parts and tops inside the crates so that the customs agents would know what it was they were looking at without having to unpack everything. I wonder if they did this on this order? I hope it doesn't happen again on the US side also...

Usually customs will inspect once. But it is very rare for them to do it and the port of exit. Of course I only deal with India, China, and Turkey. SO far so good.

Pictures mean nothing to customs agents. They can be a very slimy bunch and catch them on a bad day and all hell can break loose.

Considering Ehsan has done this a lot I'm pretty sure it's just a random inspection. Customs agents have a quota. I've heard they can sometimes pick shipment they know will be easy.

I'm sure everything will work out.

so what rae the chances of our items being damaged with the packing unpacking packing ordeal? I hope this turns out good in the long run...... this is growing old fast.......

Customs people are generally a PITA but not usually malicious. You have to understand that they are on government time so things don't happen the same as the real world. I'm sure it will go well.

With all the drama in the world, I'm sure having Pakistan on the shipping label doesn't help facilitate a quick trip thru customs.....

My 45 is on agricultural lock-down right now in Baltimore till a full inspection takes place to ensure there are no plants or animals in the truck. Could take 2 days, could take 3 weeks. You never can tell anymore.

Count me in on the Next group order

Hey, I just heard about these tops, very nice, and judging from posts I'd say the last order is coming to a close.

I can see it takes a long while to see the delivery, so I'd like to get in on the next order, (full kit, 5 window soft top), hopefully that way I can have my top by next spring/summer.

thanks

18 for the one I have....

Why don't you elaborate on the circumstances with that order instead of making it seem like all Paki orders take 18 months?

18 months? Thats an insane wait time. thanks for the correction,

This order has taken 6 months so far. The order contained 22 soft tops and some other misc. parts that are handmade from scratch.
