A co-worker has a 97 LX throwing a 401 code

About a year ago, I installed a new modulator as his original had a torn diaphragm and that worked fine until last week when the code came back :meh:

The EGR valve itself functions as it should when vacuum is applied, but the VSV doesn't click when voltage is applied

Told him I'd install it if he picked one up, but he's low on funds and asked if I could find him a used one :slap:

While searching EBay, I noticed a lot of the listings show that VSV's for other vehicles like Paseo, Tercel, Corolla, etc. are compatible, but although they look identical, the part numbers are different

I've seen them listed for as low as $15 bucks shipped, so I figured that would be his best bet IF they are in fact compatible :hmm:

Can anyone confirm this?

If so, what other compatible vehicles should I look into?

wellll pretty much any electrical vacuum valve will work there provided that you are willing to change the connector.....
I fixed my P0325 and P0330 code after a long struggle to find out the cause (please see details here: Another Knock Sensor Thread)
using a EGR VSV from a '88 Celica a had laying around....and once I verified that was the problem for me I went and bought a Mitsubishi VSV (PN: MR127520); the OEM LX450 connector fits almost perfect (one plastic rib needs to be removed.....fairly easy thing...). I mounted the VSV on the exterior of the intake mani...
I've driven the LX with that VSV for more that a year without any problem whatsoever...Just recently I replaced the OEM dead one (such an impossible place Mr. T decided to put it... btw ...) with an exact OEM one i bought from a mud member.... just to preserve the stock, OEM look of the engine bay...!!!???...otherwise the Mitsu one still worked fine....
