Egg Crate foam as insulation

when I bought the 40 they had glues foam egg crates to the inside of the hood. Didn't bother me but when I pulled out my cluster I noticed more foam in the inside of the dash. Is this really beneficial?

Might be beneficial if you want your truck to burn for insurance money... I can't fathom this as safe.

I would get rid of it. Probably put there to deaden the sound, but also holds the heat. Nice for mice too..

kill the egg crate...

If you want to dampen sound and insulate from the heat I used this stuff from Summit with very good results on my tranny tunnel.
