I know how to contact the guy with the black 80. I don't think he is on 'Mud. That picture is over a year old so he could give a long-term report if anyone is interested.

i emailed the guy making these, i like the design and want an inexpensive full length rack. i referenced this thread so maybe he can chime in and answer some questions, get a group buy , etc...

That would be good, to have a "long term" report. They certainly look nice!

I got an email back from him today.

To do a full length 80 series rack with 4 inch sides as opposed to the 6 inch sides pictured above, is $375 + $68 for greyhound shipping.

$443.00 total
, then you need at least three yakima/thule bars and gutter mounts.

Still not a bad deal though

Blackout here

"you may want to check out this link https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=77148
bunch of good cruiser guys, a few were inquiring they may have some questions, thanks

john"

Well here I am, what do you guys want to know? I have the owner of the black landcruiser's email and I will ask him if it's ok if I post a link to his site so you can check it out. I build my racks tough and light and straight to boot and they are all done one at a time by hand rather than being shot out of a chinese bolt together rack fab machine gun. Let me know what you guys need and I'll be happy to build it for you.

P.S. I can't find where to add an avatar yet, any pointers?

Thanks, but no cigar. I found this in the FAQ:

"The administrator may also have enabled custom avatars, which allows you to upload an avatar image from your computer. This feature is only available for users with more than 10 posts or those with Silver Star status."

8 more posts and I'm THERE : )

That could be true. I did not add one until I had been here for a while'

Thats my 80 with the roof rack made by Blackout of
Blackout Art Metal Fabrication some where in AZ I dont remember where.
I bought it well over a year ago from E-Bay, he sells them unpainted and can ship up to a certain size by GreyHound Bus. I used three Yakama cross bars on 1A towers (pick them up from E-Bay also) and u-bolts to hold the rack to the cross bars. I paid extra for the tire mount and the hi-lift mounts both were worth the money, the tire snugs down tight with no rubbibng or rattling coming from it.
The tire mount can be moved from front to rear or any where on the rack. The Hi-lift mount can also be moved from left to right side of the rack, I have a 60 in jack so it cant be mounted on the rear or front, a small jack can be though. I think Tim also makes a shovel mount too.
The welds have held up, I painted it black and it can be touched up as needed. One thing I had made some where else where brackets to hold the NATO fuel cans in the "corners" of the rack.
If you order one remember to bring all the U-Bolts and tools to install it in GreyHounds parking lot.
