I thought it looked pretty cool. It would be interesting to have a couple professionally built carbs by @FJ40Jim or @65swb45 on there to see what the real potential of an early F engine can be over a single stock carb setup.

I would love someone else to do this and let me know how it goes ;) haha

Think there was one for three one barrel carburetors floating around years ago. Like everything else 40 series prices were much lower. Thought about doing at least a dual carburetor setup with a header. Gave that idea up and have since sold the header.

Three? That would be cool to see, mostly for giggles. I have <a theory> some understanding of the advantage of dual carbs, CFM aside, somewhat in helping keep #1 and #6 cylinders from running lean with a centrally placed single carb. But three? Lol, “If one is good, three must be better!” Of course multiple carbs means... multiple headaches, 😆... Or nirvana for carb gurus!

Once I quit plinking with body work I’ll get around to seeing if my dual offy setup works... Only ‘cuz that was what I got with this rig (incl Carter carbs which I rebuilt) and I’m a glutton for punishment.

Not sure why I bumped up someone’s eBay ad. Maybe to spread punishment? 😝

Woah I’ll be interested in hearing how that works! Do you have a build thread? The multiple headache issue is probably what motivated me to procrastinate the most (is motivated procrastination a thing??). Getting everything dialed in seems like a major pain.

the eBay ad wasn’t the OPs so I don’t think it’s a hijack. Far as I could find there’s no offy thread, so this could be it ;)

Caution: slow reading :)

Same old MIBS mentally @Mark W pegged almost two decades ago.

I’ve modified my D40 on my ‘64lwb where it will flow enough fuel for 90mph on a downhill, 75 on the flats. Since I have no interest in running those speeds for any length of time, I leave well enough alone.

One of the surest signs of middle age is when you become more interested in seeing how long something will last instead of how fast it will go.
