OK everyone, the dates for the 2009 Pig Run have been set- August 28 and 29 at Rausch Creek. That’s a Friday and Saturday, the last weekend before the Labor Day weekend. If there’s much interest I’d be glad to schedule an extra day vacation and wheel with anyone looking to wheel Thursday, too.

As usual this will be a laid back affair- to say the least. No raffle, no banquet, no speeches- just good camaraderie and great fun. Anyone driving a Toyota is welcome and we have been known to welcome owners of other brand vehicles to share the fun with us. Most guys (but certainly not all) who attend camp at Rausch to take advantage of the free camping available. Those who arrive for Thursday wheeling (Wednesday night arrival usually) get the best camping spots. Joe Mylie and Brian O usually stay up at CampAwhile, five miles north on I-81. Either way it’s usually a great event, except for last year when I laid my piggy on her side…………

Last year we had only three pigs in attendance I’m hoping to see a few more than that this year but regardless, it has always been a fun event. This will be the sixth year we’ve run this thing and it’s always been fun. I believe Joe Mylie and I may be the only pig owners who have been at every year’s running- Joe, is that accurate?

If I can get my rear in gear I will have shirts ready for the event, last year they were $15 each and turned out pretty good. I will have a few shirts from both 2007 and 2008 available at the campground, very limited quantities of those are left.

Send a blurb here to this thread or email me shmukter@pa.metrocast.net to let me know who’s coming. See ya next month!!!! Gary S (Shmukster)

I will be there. If i dont bring the pig, i will possibly bring a fake pig or a stunt double!

I might possibly be in. I have to get alot of things done. If not i might have to just drive up and catch a ride.

Dana and I are planning on making the run. Gotta get the 4 Runner fixed up and a few mods knocked out by then, 4.7 gears in rear case with twin sticks, raise gas tank and make 3/16" skid plate, and make room for some 36" Iroks.

i should be there and karl too.

Well if Tom and Karl are coming how could I miss it?

bring more mickey bottles

See you there. Rounding up a couple more toyota guys from the Capital area.

Looking forward to wheel with you again Gary.

should i bring tiki fuel?

Pig run

Looks like the pig run is shaping up with some interesting wheelers! (How about "interesting" for a choice of words?). I hope the weeather is a little cooler than this weekend- yesterday was a hot one and I remember one event when Dozier's dog couldn't take the heat!!!!! Might be the day Tom rode with me a year or two ago. In any event it will be a fun few days at Rausch.

As for pigs to attend- other than my truck and hopefully BK's I am unsure what pigs will show. Tom Humphries 55 may or may not be ready for the event. Dozier is out due to family obligations (he actually is looking to sell his 55 again). Todd Slater might be able to get up to Rausch but his blue and white 55 is too nice to wheel. (Todd- please remember to bring my toolbox to Rausch- thanks, Gary!). Joe Mylie is away in a foreign land working. Haven't heard from Jeff LaCarruba in more than a year. Any of the guys from the Yankee Toys coming down in a pig? Brian O'Laughlin- gonna be able to wheel without Joe? Let's hear who/what to expect. John Smith- you're most welcome whether it's in your 55 (someday!!!) or the 40. Big Dan- gonna make the show? And Burl- come run with the swine.............BK- is my old white 55 still running and maybe gonna show at the pig run?

I am leaving Tuesday for a week out west, hope to get some wheeling in the Sierras next weekend but it ain't definite yet. I return home Wednesday and will be headed to Rausch to camp Thursday night. Thursday is usually a great night to camp- get to Rausch before the weekend (Friday) crowd, get the best camping spots, and enjoy some quiet camping. I hope that obnoxious group from New York who did the wagon train circle doesn't show for the weekend of the pig run.

My piggy is about ready to go. In an effort to get a better brake pedal I swapped in a used (but known to be good) master cylinder yesterday. Didn't have time to bleed the brakes so don't know yet if it is a success. Yesterday was a busy day- loaded a 55 for its final trip to the yard, cut the front axle out from under it, pulled the windshield, and waved good bye. Terminal underbody rust was the reason that piggy won't be driven again.

Ok, let's see who we can expect at the pig run! Gary S

me and karl are coming thursday.will be brining only one 40 because we going to tow it. will use my bosses white gmc again.fixed the cluch so will see how it goes.hey brian bring your tundra and trailer.:)

Gary..I'm just back in from OBX...see tuna pic below. I have projects starting up in Baltimore and Portland O tomorrow. Scheduled to be in and out of Balt this week, Portland next week. If all goes well I could run up on Friday (and bring the tool box). It appears you'll be needing Pigwald to add to the herd count, in which case I'll be looking for a seat on Sat. Also, I thought Dozier was coming out ???
