Auction ends in 18 hours.

Looks like a roach but someone in the maritimes might need it for parts.

yah, i looked at that auction pics and, sheesh, what a pile.
you MIGHT end up with a decent engine, tranny and diffs for a bush pig ... for cheap.

this isn't a Land Cruiser, :ban:
this is a time bomb :eek:with an added feature of a corroded clock :bang:...

:hillbilly:

Its like it sat in the ocean! Canadian models are in better shape

Would love it for all the small interior pieces for my 79 series build if they would fit... What is cheap?

I was under the impression it was just the opposite. The JDM's were the ones with the good bodies and frames and the Canadian models had rust issues due the Winter time roads. I have seen six Canadian Cruisers that have made their way into the States and most did not have fenders anymore due to extreme rust. I realize thats a small sample but it must be hard to keep them looking nice in that Winter enviornment. .........1978HJ45

IF a cruiser hits ocean water on either coast the rust will come. :crybaby:
the we(s)t coast doesn't see the snow and "salt" that the east coast does.;)
interior BC is brutal for "salt" but BC boys seem to take better care of the bodies so frames, hidden seams, rockers are what to watch for.:)
Alberta, Saskatewan, Manitoba USED to be the choice locations :Dfor buying clean cruisers but even those provinces is using "salt" and although still be best provinces to purchase from you have to take a close look for evidence of 'body work' and check the frames. :o
Ontario, Quebec are bad, very bad for rust. frames, bodies, roof line are usually the places to check.
the eastern provinces are hell for bodies, i will not even shop those provinces due to the rust. 2 years on the east coast and cars are already falling apart. bondo is bought by the gallon.

basicly from Kenora east is hell for vehicles. Banff to Kenora is shop carefully. B/C is take your chances.:hhmm:

there are exceptions, extremely rare, of vehicles showing up that are surprisingly clean. ones that have NEVER seen winter roads, ones that come off the road the middle of Oct and go back on in May but the price will show in the ad. :bounce::bounce2::bounce:
NEVER buy a vehicle from Canada that you can not get inspected by someone you trust.

JDM, IF parked in the winter months, IF it wasn't already rusting when it came in, IF it isn't a roll back, that is located in Canada will be in better condition than the Canadian ones ... BUT NOT ALWAYS.:bang:

so, class, that is your lesson for today. study well tonight and maybe you will informed and careful shoppers in the future.

I learned more about Canada from that one post than I did in 16 years of public education here in the States. Well done:):)

For what it's worth, this particular truck is not JDM but British spec. they have some remarkably bad rust challenges there in some regions do to the salt air and damp weather. There's a cruiserhead there named Joe who has a junkyard full of some of the most badly rusted Cruisers I have ever seen.

The cold in Canada is actually a reprieve from the rust. Rigs here don't actually rust much when it is below freezing. Its the salt that is driven in and sits in the spring melt that gets us.

as Bruce knows but many don't MOST Canadian road maintenance uses a chemical instead of salt for the last decade. this stuff is many times worse than salt they use to use. the old salt spreader boxes lasted the city for roughly 5 years, the chemical is eating the boxes in 2 years ...

Bruce is also right, below -5C (i think that is the point) and salt doesn't work.

I put in a bid on this rig. The body is pooched and the interior is green from mold. I want it for a lot of small
parts that I can use for my BJ 70 rebuild. Too bad the frame dimensions from the firewall forward are different as I have to overhaul my rusty frame. I doubt if I won the bid on this truck but if I did you wil see some parts for sale. The PWGSC staff said this truck was seized by Customs. (Maybe because importing fecal matter is illegal :-) ? )

sold for $1000.
the frame is identical except for the coil spring mounts and it is 1" short at the very front.
i suspect the frame on this one isn't worth even considering.

but

i have a complete frame sitting here, well, kinda complete ... it is very solid but will need the front welded back on, long story on mud here somewhere.

Wayne: The frame was actually surprisingly good .

I have a line on a frame in Newfoundland. It's been rebuilt end to end and he wants $500 and his Bro in law can ship it to me for $200 .The law here says no more patches on frames unless they are butt welded so I'll wait for the pics. The frame on my 70 is rough and needs lots of patching.

I'm keeping all my options open on this project.

I have some pics in parts wanted:https://forum.ih8mud.com/wanted-parts/429507-70-series-inner-fenders.html
