Hey all, what is the story with these beasts? I took mine off to get the radiator repairs and this valve is frozen solid. I tried lots of heat and penetrant. Nothing giving. I don’t want to destroy it. Are there good alternatives ? If not I’ll just reinstall this.

Interesting, that is a different style I hadn’t seen before. It’s good to know what the insides look like. :)

Did you try building a custom socket? Take a cheap impact socket and cut two slits into it for those arms to slide through. May be able to get enough torque on her to get those two unmarried?

Ooh I didn’t try that yet. Excellent idea.

If you do this, put some vice grips on the outside of the socket before you try removal and this will keep socket tight to the piece. If you don't clamp it, it may distort due to the loss of structural integrity from the slots.
