If done correctly, the Cummins 80 should be given a serious look.

Edit: if trading, though, you should be able to get a REALLY NICE 80 for that 4Runner.

Im really interested in what yall think about that Cummins 80 series. I dont know much about the 80 or cummins for that matter.

Proffits has a solid reputation for conversions. 80s are great trucks. That said, I think you're nuts for getting rid of that, particular, 4Runner. Likely because I want it and have long since had my 80 fix.

I think you and I are in opposite situations lol. The 4Runner is a wonderful rig I just daily drive it. So no back doors kind of sucks. It rides better than it did on the road than when it was ifs in every way possible. That said I want the space and cushy ride of an 80. The diesel 80 series is very interesting though. I've never had a diesel and really know nothing about them. I was originally planning on selling my 4Runner and getting a 8-9k 80 series and using the rest to pay down debt. This really throws a wrench in that.

Looks like that diesel 80 is a little out of my swing range. @G-Cat you could buy my 4Runner and wheel the crap out of it, and I could get an 80. Lol win win

I'd have to sell my FJ-40 to swing that...and the wife will vote that down.

I was going to stretch to get @MEMCruiser 's 4Runner in the $5K range...it was only on the market for a couple of hours, though!!

Ah yeah I understand that. I have been getting a lot of crap for the price of mine. I'm wondering if anyone is willing to drop that kind of coin on a 4Runner. I guess only time will tell. I shoulda traded rob when I had the chance before the build.

Dunno if that was an invitation to opine on the price, but mini truck guys are cheapasses. I've seen similar rigs sell in the $8-$10k range. For your sake, I hope you get what you're asking. Good luck with the sale!

Every one I've seen in that price range has some mileage on it off road. You don't know how much use they've gotten out of it. At least with mine, my build is documented and it's only taken me to And from work lol

I think yours is worth the asking, but you'll have to be patient. It seems that the only first-gen 4Runners that go for $12K+ are extremely clean and extremely stock.

Probably eBay is the best bet, but I'd rather wait longer than list it on eBay and pay their fees. Maybe you'll have it long enough for me to run into a big pile of cash.

Haha I appreciate the kind words. I was hoping to not use eBay. The 80 I was looking at buying, might not even be happening anyways. The guy at last minute changed his mind on selling. I've searched Craigslist and the classifieds and can't really find any decent 80s that aren't priced at like 16k with 200+k miles. Noel has one but his doesn't have a motor. i might be up the creek with no paddle

Are you looking for a locked 80 or just clean low miles?

Was hoping to find a locked one. But that seems to be one of the harder options to find. The one in Memphis was white (my favorite), locked, 35s, arb bumper. It did have some rust underneath though.

Anybody have any IFS parts laying about after a SAS or ? I need two IFS hub/bearing assemblies to modify for the new buggy. I'm sure I can find them at a wrecking yard but figured I'd check here first. TIA

Having done this on Snoop using SKY's rotor spacers, I wouldn't do it again. I have an extra IFS hub body you can have if that's the route you'd like to pursue.

What left you unhappy with the mod? I'm not worried about the turning of the IFS hub to fit the Tacoma rotors and moving the WMS outward. The caliper spacing looks like it can be addressed a few different ways. I'll try to find some early 90's v6 4Runner large piston calipers if I can (cores at least).
