I inspected an old 1966/67 FJ45 with the F135 engine fitted today and the drivers side door was off an even earlier model that featured the bugcatcher vent. Windows were windup and the exterior door handle appeared to be made out of Bakerlite. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Not sure if Aussie difference but early (early) doors had the bead that ended before the handle. So don’t think that’s an early door (?).

Bug catcher vent windows lasted a couple years longer than the slide up windows. In the US market the crank windows started during 1962. The earlier exterior handles we're also different on inside handle. Those were always metal inside and out. Even the interior handle was all metal. With a crank handle for the window your passenger's door handle would have the plastic cover on the inside if it has worn and broken off.
