Vehicle Model
  1. 40 Series
For sale is a set of early disc brake knuckles. These were the first of the disc brakes for a 40. I thing 1976 to 1978. Small pattern studs. Sort of rare due to just 2 or 3 years of manufacture. $20 plus shipping. Comes with cone washers nuts and lock washers. If you are a nice guy I will throw in a set of bearing caps and some other stuff you may not need if it fits in the box. Edit: If you are following along, two knuckles will not fit in a large flat rate.

You got it Mark @65swb45 . I just checked and they will not fit in one large flat rate. Would you like me to send them in two separate mediums or try to find/make a box and see if I can do better at UPS (I doubt they will be cheaper since they charge by zone and you are all the way on the opposite coast)?

Just back in the shop from a 12 mile hike with @majdomo. Two medium flat rate boxes should be fine.😊

I just shipped a set of disc brake knuckles last week in a large USPS flat rate box, I took off the top studs and flipped flopped the parts around and just barely got them in the box, lots of exterior shipping tape also. HTH, John
Maybe I can get you to show me.

It took a bit of finagling but it can be done.
More work involved would be to zap all of the studs out. Easy to double nut or use a stud extractor.

I’m good with two boxes. 😊You shouldn’t have to do any extra work on them for the price you offered. Everyone’s time is worth $$, even though some buyers are clueless.

You are quite perceptive, Mark. Like you were in my head ;)
I will send em out and call the shop with the deets.

On their way.
Left you a rambling message.

Done. Thanks Chris.

It's a minor miracle the knuckle caps made it!😱

That fiberglass tape works wonders for heavy parts in thin walled boxes. But, you need to almost run 1/2 the roll strategically placed around the box.. Not a cheap roll of tape either. Nice deal on those by the way
