Anyone care to compare them to the bfg km2? 285/75/16 size.

I have the 315/75R16 E rated version on my truck.

I just finished an 1800 mile loop of Colorado on them. All the highway miles were done at 50psi. No complaints there.

When I was going over the Medano pass I dropped them down to 35 to smooth out some of the bumps. Then when going through the sand dunes portion of the pass road I dropped them down to 15psi to be ecologically friendly. Back up to 50psi at the air station for the tarmac.

The only time I wished I'd lowered the pressure again was when climbing up to the new Zapata Falls campground - a 3 mile long 2000' climb on a crazy washboard gravel road. Short ride though so we just put up with it. That campground was a great find great though.

YMMV

Old thread, but all your guys with 315 duratracs, how are they on stock gears and 2.5" in the mountains, pulling long, steep grades on the interstate and such... also, what kind of mileage are you getting?

Thanks
Brian

I have 315's with a 2.5 lift, lots of hills and mountains around here. No real issues, its slower than stock but still able to keep speed on the hwy. Some mountain passes I slow down a bit but I did with the stock tires too.

I still do and have always planed to re gear. Right now with no added weight its fine, I'm sure once I get 1000lbs of crap on it will need the gears.

I'm also at sea level up to 4000ft for my driving.

Slow. 12-13MPG I live at 8000' Truck is 6500lbs. Travel both up and down from here. Not often on the interstate, but slow there two when I do. I'm Planning 4.88's this summer and a SC too if I can swing it.

Has nothing to do with the Duratracs and everything to do with the size. (315/75r16)

thanks guys, Im just rying to debate on what i should get for the wife's rig... 315's sound much better, not to mention we live on flat land now (we just happen to travel back to appalachia pretty often)... our mountains are no where near that of Colorado though

hmmm... the positive is that Fzj80's are way cheaper to regear than my XJ was...

Sorry forgot to say I have a 20 tank average of 14MPG, best tank was 17.2MPG all flat hwy at 60mph. Worse was 8.6MPG all off road in low.

I alos live in the BC mountains and am on the 315's, I live at 3300 ft and drive passes at 6500 or so, no real problems taking OD off doesnt solve, and GREAT in the snow/sleet/ice stuff we get around here!

Cheers P

Just do it. My wife is always commenting that 315's look too small on her rig.:)

Arndog, I believe I'll have to do that man. Thanks again for helping me out with all the questions
