Greetings, I have a few battles in the upcoming future with some other rigs in a few friendly tug of wars. What settings do you think would net the most power transfer? Obviously 4lo, but should I use MTS? Lock the transfer case? I don't know if we'll be in the dirt or on the tarmac...if that's of any help.

Bring a lawn chair and hold their beers? Realistically even if you were to "win" you could end up with damage therefor losing via you wallet. Better yet put it off till all vehicles have 200 or 300k on the odometer.

If you really want to do this, push for doing it on dirt or something that will give more than tarmac to put less stress on the driveline. I would think turning off traction control aids and locking the center diff would be your best bet.

All terrain select is going to do is cut power to wheels, you don't want any power cut in this situation as you will definitely lose. Brake torque and continue to 2 foot riding the brakes while doing this to limit slip without losing power.

Edit: oh yea and take videos so we can enjoy whether rigs break or not

If you must, I'd recommend low range and locking center diff (which also turns off traction control). If it turns knarly and you're bouncing, stand on the brakes to keep the driveline from taking further punishment.

Other things
- Lower tire air pressure
- Sneak more weight into the car, pref ahead of the rear axle
- Rope up in such a way that you never allow the other car to hook up from a higher point than yours, conversely you can get an advantage hooking up from a higher point. Level would be fair

Good luck and the cruiser has a lot going for it.

Thanks, I will definitely film my LC vs a jeep 392.

Oh? What kind of damage that wouldn't be able to be repaired?

I worked too hard for the $ to get my LC and would rather spend any future $ on fuel and exploration. Besides I checked my ego at the door, albeit after I made some decisions that I wish I hadn't. To each his own I guess. Insert IMHO acronym.

FIFY

The new wrangler 392? If so you'll have weight advantage and possibly traction as well depending on the surface. He'll have lockers though..

Hah, you've got nothing to worry about. In a tug of war, it boils down to two primary things: weight and traction. (EDIT: agreed with @afgman786 )

I think you're pretty built? You've probably got at least 2k lbs additional curb weight on him? Just run her as is.

Looks like the stock 392 is ~5100 lbs so you’ll have at least 1k lbs on it. Tarmac will destroy something on one of them. I’d do dirt or gravel, 4low, lock center diff, and air down tires. You should win fairly easy.
