Yep that is drivetrain for sure. Give your CV axles a look in front, you should be able to see them without lying on the ground. Any grease slung from either end is bad. Either driveshaft is harder to inspect, you’ll need to lie on the ground under the truck.
If one of the driveshafts gave up it would sound like world war 3 at freeway speed though.
Could be transfer case or a diff, if they forgot to refill at that service.

Thanks for all the help in diagnosing the issue, everyone! I am having it towed to white river Toyota. They will diagnose when they open on Monday. Will report back with the result later !

It is entirely possible this was caused by the 90k service.. so you might want to see what you need to do in terms of documentation in the event the other service facility is at fault.

why is no one suspecting a bad spark plug?
It can cause burnt smell and degraded performance.
Only thing it it will definitely put a lot of codes and check engine lights and some smoke.

just checked the 2nd video. It sounds like an ignition/spark plug related. Would be curious to see what the dealer diagnosis will come to.

Tow truck driver noticed grease along the rear axle. The sound in the video appears to originate from the back. Will have the dealer take pictures on Monday and post here. Super cold today here - 0degF was the high temperature. Hard to spend time under the car with little kids in tow.

Sorry to hear your problem. You definitely have issue on the drivetrain. It’s hard to just listen and diagnose issue. Visual inspection will be needed. Possible ujoint problem or CV axle problem.

I think with all that whining sound in the video I would suspect an accessory drive could do it . Perhaps an alternator bearing going out? Might be a stretch but with a little luck it may be something kinda simple. Hope so!

I’ve had misfires caused by broken spark plug and bad ignition coil. Both cause a misfire code. The first thing any mechanic is going to do is read the codes which will say for sure.
Also that sound is nothing like the sound I heard from my 200 the two 3 times I’ve had a misfire.
Any point to cause?

White river Toyota says no codes were thrown. Said a bearing wore out on the rear differential. $3,300 repair. Make sense to you all? See video below

On a cruiser with less than 100k miles? Did they offer any hypothesis on what might have caused it?

Lol. No way. The thing might have ran dry or severely underfilled for 100k, but no way was that “untouched” from the factory. Someone changed fluid, someone did something to it.
Wow, a failed pinion bearing in a 200 with low miles! I seriously wonder if there is gear oil, or any oil, in the rear diff. Could it be the 90K service drained and didn’t refill?
Quick edit….the seal would be destroyed with the bearing like that. If there were oil in the diff, it would have made a mess of the rear undercarriage. I bet there’s no oil in there.
