Wanted drivable 40 Pensacola FL

Want to buy FJ 40 near Pensacola or Destin area. Would like one that drives, isnt a rust bucket, or pretty good shape, looking to spend up to 7500 or 8 but would like to spend less . I can do mechanical stuff especially with something as helpful as this forum, but frame and body are out of my expertise as i cant weld. would like one that drives. from my research im thinking 76 or newer but i am not set on anything, dream one for down the road would have a truck bed back forget what model that is ill update that here soon.

Think ive found a 78 on craisgslist but going to research more before emailing that owner. If you know of the one im talking about or you are the guy with the blue one forsale please pm me im interested i just havent let you know yet.

Also interested in other Toyotas but i think my heart is saying get the 40 its been in your head for years. I want a 01-04 taco to build up like my last but the prices are terrible.

Also if your a toyota guy in the pensacola/destin area I need friends as well im not from here. Ive got two dogs a serious gf, a job that keeps me busy 70-90 hours a week going between two citys but I love toyota 4x4s and want to get back into the community of owners. o yea if this helps white male i dont smoke, drink alittle, no drugs, like the beach get to go there about once a year even though i could walk there, very polite late 20s, not from the area, roll tide haha thanks for any help

This is the one I'm strongly considering. My plan is to email the owner in the morning once I get settled at work. I was planning on researching more before jumping in but this popped up and if it's drivable for short trips I think it's what I had in mind.

I've never bought a vehicle this way. can anyone give tips in what to ask about in the email or to look for.

Does anyone recognize this truck. Or know anything about it. It seems to be average price for the condition it appears to be in.

Any help is appreciated even a minimum of go for it or don't do it.

I say go for it. That's a good asking price if it runs as advertised and the body isn't too bad. Since it's nearby your cost to ship would be $0.

I saw it today. I ended up buying it. Frame and drivetrain seem good. Body is going to need some work. Floorboard under driver is very bad. I'll post pictures tonight but seems to run well. Will need a lot of work but I would rate it a 60-65% percent ok vehicle.
I've driven it all afternoon. At my gfs family house now about an hour drive from home. Seems to run good. Hard top is very rough. Ended up leaving to get another time.

wow thanks thats a great link. my eyes are tired from all the parts searching and research ive done the last few days. once work calms down in a day or two i hope to be back on the hunt for goodies.
I will need both front fenders. a hood and would like a tailgate of some sort. It came with a hard top and ambulance doors but honestly they are to far gone to save in my opinion, sad to cause i really like the ambulance doors. but atleast i could use the windows and trim i guess.
Just for a quick reference would a earlier model hood and doors still fit. I have found a few on craigslist but they are 72 but would be a good deal if it would work.

Ill update more and make a build page for all my questions once i get some rest and catch up with real work.


O one of the first things that needs attention is Tie rod ends or a whole new piece if anyone knows a good source i would like to buy new if possible
