Well guys, this is it. If you are thinking this is some kind of fire sale, stop reading now. This is the rig we have all dreamed about and it is beautiful. And, it is located in Nashville, TN.

I have owned it for 8 years. We took it on an 11,000 mile road trip to Baja and then used it as our only US based vehicle for 5 years while we were living abroad for work. These 40,000 miles of driving convinced me that it needed more power.

I had it converted to diesel by Diesel Toys in San Antonio and then 7,000 miles later rebuilt by ATEB/TorFAB. This is frankly a big part of why it's listed here - just the heart break of having to do that and go without it for another 4 months.

Bottom line, this is the nicest driving diesel 60 you will ever find!!

1HD-T rebuilt by ATEB 4000 miles ago.

H55-F 5 speed. Factory t-case with twin stick conversion.

Stock front axle with ARB Locker and IFS Hub conversion with Tundra rotors.

FZJ80 rear axle with ARB locker and factory disc brakes.

BDS front suspension. OME rear with air overloads.

ARB front bumper with Warn Winch.

Kaymar rear with spare tire and 3 Scepter can mounts.

Engine details:
G-Turbo
Top Mount Intercooler
Rebuilt and tuned injection pump
Exhaust manifold mounted EGT probe
Factory accessories including 12v alternator.

Interior details:

Leather seats with front seat heaters.
TEQ embroidery on the door panels.
Just Dashes rebuilt dash pad - custom fit to pioneer head unit.
Tuffy center consol.
AMP and JL audio speakers.
Full WagonGear side panels and tailgate - with storage.
In dash Autometer Tach - factory location.
A-pillar mounted EGT and Boost.

Other:

Under-dash mount ARB air compressor.
100 series master cylinder.
252,000 total mileage. Body is the only thing to see that mileage. And all original paint except the hood. It is an 8/10. And, still my favorite part of the truck.

I am asking $37,500. Serious offers considered. Partial trade of mid 2000 100 series considered.

Expedition gear not included but available with purchase (to be negotiated)

ARB Fridge.
ARB Awning.
ARB Rack and prototype RTT.
Custom Kuat NV bike rack (to clear rear bumper accessories).
Canvas storage bag for front half of rack.
Lots of other stuff.

Anyone know about licensing this in California?

Really love the truck.
mig79 - drive it home and start ownership with an EPIC roadtrip!

Lots of money for the wife not to "like" it... she doesn't ride in my 62 now so... as well as the same concerns as cruiserdrew. It would look good with some of the California Legacy license plates

probably a no go in cali technically.......cali dmv - carb will look to make sure diesel is from same class of vehicle and not from truck class. Hdt will likely not show up in any class of usa vehicles and likely wont get the nod technically speaking.

however if you take it to dmv and they simply visually check for i.p. to confirm its a "diesel" then you might sneak it by. ive had them ask to pop the hood and start it up justto hear the diesel rattle and they were only looking for visual/ audible. but this was likely because it was older vehicle that wasnt in the CARB compliance need. but i wasnt asking alot of questions as i didnt want the guy to get suspicious and diving into engine i.d. / class verification.

crapshoot really. i find inspectors alot more picky early morning and alot more lenient/ less thorough later in their shift when lines are long and they are backed up/ needing to move u thru quick.

Wow! 15k less than you originally offered it for sale here for... If you come down 15k more I'll take it!:grinpimp: GLWS

Does the home state registration say it's a diesel?

Colby, I am praying for auction momentum to get closer to my asking price. I find bidding on reserve auctions frustrating so I took the gamble to encourage people to jump in.

Drew, it says Diesel on the Tennessee registration. The Tennesee title doesn't include fuel type.

Registering this in CA should not be a problem at all.
I've done numerous diesel conversions and they're all legal in CA, with diesel titles.
The BAR and CARB have nothing to do with it.
Way too much hear-say and misinformation out there .....

I agree, reserve auctions are annoying. There's already active bidders and you still have 4 days to go, lots of time to build momentum! If I had the extra funds I would be all over it!

About the only rig out there I would sell my 60 to get. Timing off for me though. Good luck!

We are getting there. $26,650. More interest than expected. Who knows. Maybe it will get up there where I started! It is still a lot cheaper than the $85k (I find it a little embarrassing, actually) I have spent building it.

Georg, thanks for weighing in. That was my understanding as well. But, I am far from the CA authority that you are!

BTW, it is up for tag renewal in December, so it went through the TN emissions testing today and passed with flying colors.

Thanks.
Dan

What happened to the auction?

Hope he got it sold to someone here..and got the $$ he was asking for...

No Shill bidding. The high bidder was a nice guy from OH. He drove down, had it hauled on a flatbed an hour away to a reputable shop, paid to have it inspected and then hauled back. He liked what he found out about the truck and wanted to drive it home. We reached an agreement that we were both happy about and he arranged payment. He rented a uhaul dolly and headed out this afternoon with Land Cruiser towing his VW diesel.

I am sad to see it go, but excited for the fact that it is going to a good home!!

Thanks for all the interest.

Dan

Well good for you Dan, I am glad that you got what you needed. Sorry for the "Doubting Thomas" comment.

I am the lucky buyer and am in love with this rig. It drove perfect. For those of you that don't know Dan, he is a very interesting and an extremely intelligent guy and it was my good fortune to meet him.

There is no overstating how nice of a duesel Land Cruisers this is and it is a keeper for me. A true engineering marvel with so many little details that it's too much for me to describe but I genuinely appreciate because of my unique background and childhood. I will tell you it was my best New Years Eve ever driving the rig! I was smiling ear to ear the entire way. Thanks Dan!
