Thanks for the comments guys. It's not too much trouble to take off either. Just the 4 bolts that fix the front two bows in & it lifts off in one piece & then the small screws that attach the door frame to the windscreen & it's done.

I like the top! Excellent design. What are those tube connectors and where did ou source them?

The tube conectors I got from a local hardware store, we just call them pipe joining clamps. They come in a heap of different sizes.

Just a quick update on progress.
Got my new convertor the other day. Just waiting on my engine mounts to turn up
so I can start piecing things back together.
DSCF3830.jpg

This convertor has an almost standard stall, but a heavy duty type. It has a steel billet turbine hub with broached splines & eliminates the chance of the splines stripping in the hub. The fins in the convertor have also been furnace brazed to increase the strength of the fins. So this one should last me longer than the last one.......I hope.

looking good croozy,i ned to get the auto in my 45 checked, seems gutless behind the 350 chev,my 327 chev 40 has heaps more go,i have to many projects on the go,need to concentrate on ome at a time, lol

Had a bit more of a crack today.
The new output shaft that was put in the tranmission had to be cut down
to accomodate the transfer case.
measured where it had to be amputated & wraped tape around it to give me
a straight line to cut to & wrapped the rest of the exposed shaft & covered the
rear opening as well.
DSCF3831.jpg

Next came the cut.
DSCF3834.jpg

Here is the shaft now that it's shortened.
DSCF3835.jpg

Next was to drop the whole lot on the floor for a test fit.
DSCF3844.jpg

Perfect

Then it was time to put the new injectors in.

The old ones.
DSCF3837.jpg

The new ones. MMMMMM shiny
DSCF3838.jpg

With the new injectors in I then put the fuel rail back on.
DSCF3839.jpg

Then the plenum went back on.
DSCF3840.jpg

All done & in place.
DSCF3841.jpg

I also got the front shock towers fitted. I was going to weld them on
but instead I chose to bolt them on as I have some wiring running through the chassis & didn't want to risk damaging them with heat from welding.
DSCF3847.jpg

just need some longer front shocks now.

Cheers
croozy.

Well hit the shed again today in order to get things along a bit further.
Everything went along so good I was expecting something to go bung
but it didn't.
A bit worried actually, That either means my luck has finally changed
or something extra big is gonna stuff up later.
So I got the engine, transmission & the transfer case &
the rear tail shaft all reinstalled with the help of my old man.
Also since the transmission sit a bit further forward I got the
gearbox crossmember modified to suit.

pic of me attaching the frame to the engine so I can lift it back in.
DSCF3849.jpg

And here is a pic of the engine sitting back where it belongs.
DSCF3850.jpg

So just a case of tidying up a few things underneath,
& checking whether the front drive shaft will have to
be shortened & I can start puting the rest back together

Cheers

Great progress, Croozy !! Love your fuel induction system !!

Had little bit of a score today, a new set of seats.
Was looking to repair a set of stratos seats I have in the shed
but they are going to cost me about $400 to get done. So when these
came up I couldn't pass them up.

I got them for a steal. $200 for the pair. :D

Well after being laid up for the last two weeks with muscular
damage to my ribs I decided to give working on the shorty a go.
I started out on friday & put in three solid days on the car
& almost got it done.

Started out with a bit of easy work just cleaning up parts & repainting them.
DSCF3853.jpg

Then moved onto the serious stuff.
Put some of the life blood back into the engine.
DSCF3855.jpg

In this pic I'm priming the engine oil pump & making sure the engine has
oil circulated right through it.

DSCF3854.jpg

I then fitted crush tube into the chassis & mounted the front shock towers
for the last time. After a few minutes of thought about the barrety tray
I decided to modify it yet again so I could keep the battery in the engine bay & not inside. Any room inside the car is a bonus.

This is how I ended up mounting the tray.
DSCF3856.jpg

I also ripped out the old seats & fitted the new ones.
Old on the left & new on the right.
DSCF3857.jpg

New seats all fitted in.
DSCF3858.jpg

The rest of the work involved replacing all the engine pulleys & belt, alternator,
starter moter, radiator support frame, radiator, distributor & leads, finished
off the wiring, put the transmission oil cooler back on, refitted the exhaust
system & finished up a few other little bits & pieces.

DSCF3859.jpg

I would've got it fired up today but I thought I had some transmission fluid
but apparently I didn't, Bummer. Ah well next weekend maybe.

Cheers

Update time.

Went down to the local electrical wholesaler today & picked up these little fellas.
DSCF3898.jpg

Fixed them to the firewall & used them for this.
DSCF3899.jpg

They are the breathers for the transmission & transfer case.

Put all the rest of the intake gear back on.
