Light-Duty

I would think that you would be able to replace your headlights with Hella or IPF DOT lights for left hand drivers. Or any Wagner or other brand sealed beam replacement lenses would work since that size is probably a standard size used in alot of older rigs. As to the rest of the lenses, can't help you. Don't know if European lenses have the required markings or not and if available.

Penticton Toyota can get most parts. Maybe not the next day and maybe not with the cheapest prices but anything I have asked about is available. Common items like the 90915-30002 oil filters for the 2LTE/2LT-II are usually in stock.

What they DO need to complete the package is get some diesel mechanic experience. I recently asked them if they would do a timing belt change and they said I would be their first crack at that...no thx...
what i should have said was MOST toyota dealerships do not have the ability to cross reference and find the parts. the guys i use are excellent but even then there are parts they can not source...

Wow. I stand corrected. It's interesting they're selling the jdm Cruiser considering I've gone into their parts department 3 times for my jdm. Every time they looked at me as if I had leprosy or something. They definitely did not want to talk to anyone with a jdm.

Curious, I just phoned Ens. This Cruiser is sold but they expect to have another coming. The salesman said "they have a guy that imports them for us, we don't import them." I asked him about parts availability, he said "No problem. They make them in Japan so the parts will be available."

gotta love sales people.

i wonder if it is a case of "you buy it, your problem"? after all it is a used vehicle so i guess they do not HAVE to supply parts for it...
just guessing.
or maybe they are consignment...

Check out the stock number. It would appear that it IS consignment.

okay boys, here is the results from the horse's mouth(so to speak). i just got off the phone with head of vehicle safety in Alberta.

vehicle requirements DO VARY from province to province.
vehical registered in Alberta have the right to drive BC roads without hassle from the BC inspection agencies.

tail lights DO NOT have to have DOT, CMVSS or SAE imprint on them.

head lights must be adjusted as to not shine into the on coming traffic view, if they can not be adjusted accordingly they must be changed out.

day time running lights MUST be installed after 12/89

3rd brake light MUST be installed in cars after 07/87 and in sport utility or trucks after 01/97

that is it, in Alberta Motor Vehicle's dept eyes, if the unit was allowed into Canada at the dock then it is allowed to be on Alberta roads.

end of story.

now the word i got about BC DMV is "when in Rome do as the Roman's", so BC has to finalize what they want for their vehicles to pass the OOP there. sorry boys but there is little we can do from this end till the dust settles...

as the gent said on the phone, you can always move to friendly Alberta...

cheers

How about Quebec or Ontario? Anybody being hassled in Canada's frozen Eastern wastelands?

Ontario used to be the "nasty province" when it came to OOP inspections but none of my trucks i sent down there had any problems same with the eastern provinces that i have shipped to.
BC is the only problem so far...

They talk to me. I have had my truck safetied there twice. They have no numbers for our truck but if you use an 87 HJ60 for a reference, you can get most of the parts. When I first got my truck they could get any part number you gave them. Not anymore.

As for the parts thing, the dealer they have inporting them lives in Japan and will be shipping parts as needed. NOT though toyota. The importer will also not sell to the public...dealers only, but not just toyota.

hummm, why is that?

Not sure why that is??? He did say he is bringing in 15-20 trucks at a whack...

Dealers usally don't complain to the importer as much as public sales. If there is problem truck they repaire it, and pass the cost on to the public. That is way there is a lot of brokers in Japan who will not deal with the general public. Also given you would buy one truck and a dealer wouldl buy 20, who would you sell to. (economics)
