Door Lock Cylinder Repair?

Yes, I left them a key and they made up the cylinder to fit the key.

Couldn't get my key to go in to the lock this weekend. Looked in the slot and there was some metal thing in the way, deep in the lock. PUlled the lock cylinder out (a 7 min job) and took to my local locksmith. $30 later and it's all fixed. Turns out one of the pins fell into the slot, so he replaced it, and put a new trim ring on it and I'm good to go.

Friendly guy who looks a lot like Billy Gibbon of ZZ Top. I asked about replacement locks. He said "go to a junkyard and pull a used one, or get a new one from the dealer. Bring it in here with your key and I'll re-key it for $25. Whatever you do, don't buy Chinese crap on Ebay. The 30 year old OEM or new stock will last another 30 years when I re-key and service it."

Easy peasy.

I have new keys already, it was damaged from someone trying to break in a few years ago, so the locksmith can supply the whole part new?
Just saw that someone tried to break into mine as well. It looks pretty mangled so I dont think I can repair. Is there a part number for just the cylinder? Any way to buy it? I want to fix asap

Repair and rebuild of the lock cylinders can be done by @ToyotaMatt

I had him do all locks (including my fuel door and lift gate power lock) and the ignition cylinder on my 62 a couple years back, with a new set of keys (including a pair of Euro style keys that are freakin sweet) and he did a great job. Parts for the cylinders are very limited due to long-ceased production, but he can give you details on what exactly he's still able to support. It's not a cheap job, but IMO worth the money.

I bust his chops on a regular basis outside of Mud but the man does have a lot of high quality parts he can provide.

Okay incase anyone else stumbles upon this: @ToyotaMatt doesnt do 100 series locks. However, with a donor door lock cylinder it is really easy to repin and repair your door lock. I bought a random 100 door handle on ebay, swapped over the pins from my lock am finishing up the repair now. I'll start a new thread with a how to later

While the Heritage Museum Lacks floor space , wall space for small “ things “ is abundant for what I hope they would consider displaying in a formal ART WORK format …?

I guess both of them will know since I tagged them now of my wishes to offer up examples of each above ….

you might try putting some tri-flow (synthetic lubricant used by bicycle shops, locksmiths etc) into the cylinder. that stuff does miracles. perhaps not this particular miracles but ive had stubborn locks that wouldnt work right for anything until i put some triflow in them, then: problem solved.

one love

Worked for me!
