Non-hybrid vs 5.7? Okay, I'll take that bet.
At elevation - my money's on the turbo 4. I don't have one or I'd love to do a side by side with a heavy trailer. Best I can think of is someone with a 200 try the tfl extreme towing test in Colorado that was pretty hard on the Tacoma hybrid they tried. Not the Eisenhower pass, but the one that overheated all the full size trucks.

Unfortunately I'm in Alaska and we don't really have high elevation roads or big passes. So I'm not much help. Probably be back in Montana by the fall though.

I think I am not making friends either with some so probably best is to turn on ignore and not get side tracked by the nonsense.
thats ok - some of these posters you certainly dont want on your friend list.

Hey you still have us - that is if you are ok with some of us pre 16 losers 🙏😊

How is the hybrid power helping you when you tow especially uphill when you need most of it?

Battery will be long depleted so stop making these dumb arguments. Maybe go fly planes as “jetboy” and stick with that. I like planes by the way. On a forum like that we could be great friends…
It's not. It should. But Toyota didn't give it enough battery. Im just comparing base engine.

you always have great posts , however i have to point out your posts in this thread is A+++

loving it

my friend

😎

I love the 200. Just not quite as enamored by the mythology. It's metal and paint. But it's a great vehicle. Pretty revolutionary I'm 2008.

Oh man, you're really projecting.

So you don't mislead others with what it really takes to haul a full size 8k+ travel trailer because now you're messing with peoples safety...

I'll say it again, engine braking is a critical part of hauling big trailers and a 4-banger doesn't have enough to be safe. This same story plays out with Ram 4cyl turbo pickups, and even Fords 3.5EB turbo on travel trailer forums. Sure, plenty of power. Until some owner gets a very serious first hand experience that other qualities matter, and the hybrid braking some dude pontificating on the forums is only imagined.

I have ignored JB, that will create some peace from the continuous bogus claims.

And in many ways, still superior to the 250/GX…a pill that’s impossible to swallow for some.

IYKYK 😉

these newbies are swallowing a lot of things 😜😈
A wise man once told me I don’t need to dump on other’s trucks to feel good about my own. It was good advice.

I’m glad the 250 owners love their 250s. To each his own. They are pretty cool looking and capable too. If I had unlimited funds, I’d add a GX 550 OT.

You think the turbo 4 with 8k is less safe than the turbo 6 with 12k lbs? GM with the 2.7 4cyl is perfectly fine with a 8k. One of my old medium duty GM trucks would pull 25k lbs with a little gas v8. I'm not sure this sky is falling here.

I probably wouldn't choose a midsize SUV for towing that way whether it's a 200 or a 250. But I don't think it's necessarily dangerous.

I am here trying to understand what you were saying/responding to and just now realized why I couldn’t. I have already ignored this jetboy in the past and (gladly) cant see what he writes. It is just another troll together with that other one above that uses AI to create his fairytales about the superiority of the 250 Prado.

TFL’s Ike Gauntlet downhill tow test showed the hybrid in the 250 pretty much does nothing as it pertains to slowing down the vehicle on a long descent. In fact, the 6th gen 4Runner without the hybrid had less brake applications than the LC 250. I don’t quite understand that, but it goes to show how useless the hybrid system is.

You’re spot on. Engine braking is VERY important when going down a steep long grade. There’s no replacement for displacement when it comes to using the vacuum of an engine to slow down a vehicle without using brakes.

Big V8’s are way more safe than a small 4 popper for towing.

Who cares? I would have the funds to have other things where it didn't matter. Understand the situation and put yourself in it instead of looking for something to bitch about.
Regardless of whether you throw on a lift, bigger tires, etc it’s still an unmitigated low point in the system. Not a problem money can make go away. Unless your money is used to buy a non e-KDSS trim:

You're still not getting it. If I have the funds, I don't care. I have something else for the serious stuff. I don't have to fix anything and money DOES make it go away.
