Two questions for you.
1. What size are the screws needed to attach the dome light?

2. How do you run the wire for the dome light? I can see a red wire inside the door jam where the dome light is attached but I can not see where it comes out. I do see the other wire up by the windshield, but do not see a hole for the wire to come down into the door jam to connect the wire to the dome light.

thanks for any help.

Todd

should be a 6mmx1.0x15mm length, iirc...

It runs along the top on the ones that I have seen, along the drivers side to the windshield frame....

What year truck are you working on?

It's a 78 fj40. Thats what I thought but I can't seem to find a hole for the wire to come out of the door jam. I can see the old wire on the inside of the door jam but can not see where it goes.

When I bought my '78 I had to wire up the dome light, I ran the wire from the fuse box up threw the left side windshield frame, then across the lip on the hardtop, then down to the light. There was already holes to run the wire through so it wasn't hard to figure out. I actually had to do this twice since the first time I used a heavier guage wire and it blew the fuse when I turned the light on. I ended up using a 20 guage wire and it works perfect.
As far as the bulb goes SOR is the only place I found one, it's somewhat a unique bulb not really standard in present automotive supply.

my 76 already had the power wire hanging under the dash from the harness, i did like PortAngelesFJ40 did, there is a small hole up under the dash that goes up threw the windshield frame out the to the top and then the wire just lays in the channel along the hard top and goes down threw another small hole to the dome light. hardest part was fishing a wire up threw there. and i had no problem getting the bulb locally at baxters auto supply in marysville, it was in stock. try napa they should have it. do you still have the old one ? take it with you!

oh and where the wire goes threw the windshield frame there should be a rubber grommet that the wire goes threw.

When I look along the channel I see what appears to be a hole but it has some kind of rubber plug. It may some type of gum to help plug up the hole. I'll try to get a picture of it.

AS for the bulb, when I bought the LC there was no dome light. I had to buy one off of E-bay and it didn't come with the bulb. Has anyone put in one of the LED dome lights?

the bulb kinda looks like a big fuse, i will get a part # for you but it may be monday after work before i can get to it, my parts place is closed sundays. i will look at mine tomorrow and see if it has a number on it (its in storage) and i will let you know, but it was a wagner # if i remember correctly.

look at the plug and see if its hollow, the wire goes threw it.

If it's just past the inside curve on the top of the windshield channel (driver's side), that's the hole you want. Sounds like a PO plugged it up to keep the water out while running topless.

I have the wire coming out of the windshield and I have plugged in the long wire that runs on top. I wasn's able to get a picture of the plugged hole this weekend I'll have to wait til Friday until I get home to get it. It's some kind of black gooooy thing that is plugging it up.

the number on the bulb at one end says narva 12v 10w and on the other says 17316 9 B 2

hope they can cross referance the # at the auto parts place.
