Any dog owners who run a drawer system in their truck at all times for their daily driver rig? Do you have dog(s) and figures out how to run a drawer system with room for them as well?

Post up pics please. I am trying to dial in our camping set up and with two kids and one (soon to be two) dogs along with the fridge on an ARB drawer slide there is very little room for cargo. Anyone running a fridge on a slide with a drawers next to it and area for your dogs on top?

Sorry for the extremely specific question, but post your set ups! Thanks.

No fridge, but you get the idea.

Many possibilities for you to accommodate fridge, gear, and dog, but mostly depends on the size of the dog.

I'm looking for the same thing. I don't have drawers yet but i'd like to get drawers that fold flat with the second row and then have a kennel on top of the drawers. I was looking at transk9 and gunner kennels but they're pricey. Also, not sure if that will make it hard for them to get in and out.

The kennel is a good thought, our dogs aren't crate-trained so I hadn’t considered it. Good way to keep them contained, but heavy and cumbersome probably. The front runner drawers or the Reef system by Land Shark are appealing.

Good to see a happy pup on top of drawers!

I went the crate route for a while but ultimately concluded that it was overly cumbersome, particularly if you plan to sleep on a platform inside the vehicle. I swapped the crate for a Raingler barrier, which keeps the dogs in the back (and gear if in a collision) while being very easy and quick to accommodate a foldout sleeping platform without completely removing the barrier.

I have ARB drawers, ARB fridge and dog crate. The combo works great and keeps my pup safe.

I just had my drawers rebuilt with a lowered fridge on the drivers side and a space for a dog bed on the passenger side, with a barrier between them.

Not related to dogs, but how do you feel about the fridge level? I’m assuming you’re not using a drop slide. I’m a short fella but I like my drink cold so I’m doing some brain storming.

I'm using a blackforest fridge slide. I had a regular drawer setup before and couldn't see in the fridge and got tired of having to climb in to see what I was grabbing. I attached a pic of the old version.

I made the space for the fridge just large enough for the fridge slide and made the drawers as large as possible using a 500lb set of slides to handle the weight of the tools.

The space behind the fridge will be for the electrical system and may be an AGM battery fed by a 500 amp relay battery idolater. I have this one with 4ga wiring, connections and breakers to go in. I need have to decide if I am putting a second battery in with a fuse block running of it for the fridge instead of just running a fused line from the group 31 main battery to a fuse block.

Not sure it matters to everybody, but if retaining the dog in the crate in the event of an accident is your mission, the lightweight, pet store crates are worthless (at best) in an collision. Check out these Dog Crate Crash Test Videos. The study was from five years ago and doesn't include everything, but you'll get the idea.

I ended up with a Dakota crate in my 100. I like the Gunner crates, but they are crazy expensive and the sizes were a tough fit into my cargo system. The Dakota was a perfect fit, straps in rock-solid, and honestly looks to be more secure than my friend's Gunner. It takes up a lot of space, but at least with a crate mounted in the back, I can pack around it pretty easily. Not possible with an open dog bed.

I almost went with the Ruff Land kennel. They look great and I like the one-piece construction. I got a great deal on the Dakota, and the size was perfect for the space I already had built, but very similar to the Ruff Land, really.

The crash test videos should be taken with a grain of salt, too. If you watch them, the trouble with a lot of the bad results was the ability for the kennel to slide around and amplify the impact forces on their mounts. If you can keep the kennel from moving around, I imagine a lot of them would perform much better.

Great thread and great ideas in here.

I'm waiting for a pup next spring, and planned on doing something like has been posted here with drawers... so this is great.

I'm a kennel guy personally. @SoCal_80 how is that ruff land holding up? I've had my eye on one.

The kennel is PERFECT! Absolutely no issues at all. I bought a pad from LLBean and my Husky loves it.
