I need to increase horsepower substantially, but I would like to keep my axles and driveshafts.I was thinking of doing a Chevy350 of some sort (fuel injected of course) or a 4.3 Vortec V6 with a GM automaic transmission and the AA kit that bolts it all to my stock T-case.

P.S. Its my DD

I'm quite sure that a Vortec and 350 never came together, most of the vortecs came with a 4L60E or 4L80E. Maybe a 700R4. I'd make sure you check since the ECU controls the trans also and might not operate properly without info from the trans.

My personal opinion is go with the 4.3 enough power for the road with Okay milage. With proper gearing will wheel very nice. I have done this to the chicks Heep.
But the V8's always sound better :)
