Does the 96 have keyless? I can't see why it wouldn't, I mean my 94 Dodge van does so this has to. Maybe this one just doesn't have the correct key?

I think they do. Look under the drivers seat and see if there is a box. Loking from the door, you should see a place you can stick a very small like dental pick. This is what you hold in while you program the the remote

Free standing keyless entry is very rare, although it did exist. Most were actually part of the alarm system. neither was "standard equipment". They were port or dealer installed options.

easy and cheap to add, less than $100. Well worth it IMHO.

The factory stuff was nowhere near that cheap.

Any power door locked vehicle it can be added to for $100 aftermarket alarm and keyless entry
I did that.
If I had to do it again I would get the factory reprogrammed and added.

My '96 has it. It is associated with the Toyota alarm system and has to be programmed. As the rig serves as the family bus, my wife couldn't live without it.

How hard (and expensive) is it to add the factory toyota alarm and keyless entry to a 93?
