Does LC300 release tell us anything about the upcoming release of GX / 4R / Prado?

6 USB ports! I wonder where they are placing them?
Why the heck don't they just carry that over to the entire GX lineup!! Okay, they can keep the special color packages and branding, but why not carry the entire dash/console over to all the GX's??
Yes this is an ambiguous question, but just need to vent a little frustration with Lexus/Toyota.

I rather like that new center stack design. A lot. I imagine it’ll never be backwards compatible. :(

This new infotainment config will be on all 2022 GX 460s... this isn't limited to this trim level. In actuality the black line is kind of a base edition as equipment goes.

I am digging the new console. Climate controls finally not on the display! I really like that green. A set of Bronze on that would be slick. It seems odd the offroad package is still only available on the Luxury trim. That is a grouping of kit I would think more premium buyers would want. A premium with offroad package, no third row but maintaining the third row power circuit would be pretty awesome.

Doesn’t a redesign kinda indicate we aren’t getting a 250 or whatever designation chassis in NA for quite some time?

I really hope for a hybrid turbo 6, or even non turbo maybe, 4 cylinder is a total no-go and 2023 is about when our LR5 needs traded in. GX or 4Runner is the target but only if it’s updated and available by early 2023.

If they are making a few upgrades for 2022, I would be surprised to see something new before Q4 next year ... or later. I haven't followed the 4Runner news lately but it sounds like a turbocharged 4 is in the works for the next Prado/post 150 series platform.

Given that the 150 series GX and 4Runner have different engines, I can see Lexus going for a V6 or TT-V6 versus the 4-cylinder in the GX version of the new platform. It would be awesome to have the LC300's engine in a GX size package, but that could pull some sales from the LX600/LX750H/LX version of the LC300. Does anyone know if there is another TTV6 slated to come to the States in 2023 or beyond?

Black edition would have been even nicer without chrome badges...

For me this is excellent news all around - updated center stack with android audio and no mechanical changes. Our CPO warranty runs out in 4 years and with the update I bet we get another CPO GX at that time.

I agree with KNR regarding a 2 row seating option. I'd go for that since we have never used the third row and the dogs are in the second row more often than a human. My wife like the idea of 3 rows for the one time we could have used it 3 years ago.

This will be one of the last vehicles with a NA engine and hydraulic brakes and steering which are characteristics I have looked for in my most recent car purchases. I bought our 2011 BMW 328iT with a manual transmission, single hump dash, and rwd since it was the last model wagon BMW made with a stick and lacking turbos and all the electrical components. (first gen BMW electric steering sucked and I never looked at BMW since) We loved our previous daily drivers, e39 wagons and the E91 328it was as close as I could get. Also have an old F150 for home depot and yard composting runs with crank windows, manual locks, and quarter glass windows for AC....I guess I am a laggard on the car technology adoption curve but I still miss quarter glass windows.

Toyota/Lexus chronically under powering their vehicles is the biggest drawback to me. Unless it’s 300+ hp and solid torque we won’t even go look at it. I can live with my GX as it is but I’ve always wished it had the 5.7. For our mostly on road SUV I really want the power to pull a trailer, and to feel sporty. I even feel the 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque in our Discovery is pretty lacklustre with even a couple thousand pounds behind it. 400/400 would be great. If I’ve gotta go to to a LC or domestic then I guess that’s what we will do.

V8 or bust. However if Toyota kills the V8, which I think they just might do. I’d rather have the RAV4 Prime / Lexus NX450h’s hybrid power plant with a bit more juice than any V6 mill. I bloody hate V6 engines unless their Italian. Hell let’s get an I6 with some electricity instead if you must use 6 cylinders

Perhaps not something those here on Mud would add but curious how many others will swap for the rails that come with Black Line

It would be a wash (either way) for me. I definitely wouldn't pay any extra for them since I'd wind up doing an after market rack anyways. Love my Gamiviti!

Yeah.. I wouldn't expect anyone with aftermarket racks to pursue but it seems more functional than the factory rails since 2010. The raised height alone may push some who want to remain fairly stock.

What’s the weight rating? Any downsides to using these and not an aftermarket solution?
