Im reachin the end of my 60 project and i love her alot, being my first car that i bought with 2 summers worth of farm chores (ha), but im thinkin on a 55. Ive always really liked them. I was thinkin do the experts think i could get a equal trade for my 60 for a sweet 55. My truck has a new paint job/rhino lining, 4" lift with shakle reversal, 33's, tunned motor. Its justa real sweet truck. I kinda wanna get a 55 but want one in similar condition. good to mild body problems, maybe a lift, roof rack, good running. Im just curious what i could get for my ride money or trade. nebody drop a line and tell me what u think. Im in maryland if anyone is really interested.

I'd say you could get around 4-5,000 dollars. I think you will be hard pressed to find a 55 to trade with that is in the same condition. 60's are still pretty common vehicle, they haven't reached the status of 40's and 55's were people are paying ridiculous prices for them.

Good Luck-

This is the FJ6X series TECH section.

If the truck is for sale, I'll move this to the 'Vehicles for Sale' section.

You probably won't find a 55 with a combo roof rack/basketball backboard, though.

i think if you ever did decide to sell it, ebay would be your best bet. Put your minimum that you would take on ebay as the reserve and hope someone falls in love with it and bids high.

Even trade? I doubt it. FJ55's for sale pretty much come in three flavors. Parts rigs, project rigs that need a lot of work, and already restored/refurbished pigs that will probably still need some work but be worth more than your 60.

I think you can get $6-7K for your rig if the paint job is really good and the interior is clean. A buddy here in Austin just sold his FJ62 on Ebay for $12.8K, there's definitely an interest out there for really clean Land Cruisers that need minimal or no work.

The question is, can you get a really clean FJ55 for that? I think you might need more than that...

Easy killer let not make this like the 100 board where anything mentioned other than a 100 is chat.
The guy is just curious what it is worth. And may be interested in a 55. Good grief. You must be a little grumpy from leaving the 60 series fold yourself.

I agree look all around @55's to get a cost comparison. This through it long and hard. When you get to be 25 or 30 you might start kicking yourself for selling your 1st cruiser/car. I know I kick myself for selling my first car. And anytime I ever bring up selling my 62 to buy something else the wife always shoots it down.

Ebay is your best bet, if you truely have no rust then the price can go very high if its in as good of shape as it looks. Rust seems to be the price killer here. Keep us posted on any other thoughts. Hopefully we can keep you in the 60 fold. :)

when you put it on ebay you are only "two wealthy people away from a high sellling price".

As the owner of a 60 and formerly a 55, think hard about your intentions for the truck. If it is a DD/weekend trail rig, the 60 is the way to go. I drove my 55 as a DD for 1.5 years before I bought the 60. The 60 has pretty much all the creature comforts (PS, AC, disks, working weatherstripping).

Finding a 55 that is comparable in condition to your 60 is gonna be difficult. Rust free 55s are getting big $$, and everything else is so rusty that you will spend a fortune on reparing it.

Dont get me wrong, 55s are way cool (hopefully I will own another someday, or a 45LV) but the 60 is a much better DD.
