I bought the lx because I’m cheap and there are more of them out there. In 2018 I paid $43k for my 2015 with 53k miles on it. Lc in same spec would be $50k then, prob $60k now.
My mom is the typical lx buyer. She had had 1 470, and 4 570’s. She drives to the mall and back, puts 8k miles a year on it, gets it serviced at Lexus, and 99% of the time she is the only person in the vehicle. Never goes Offroad, and trades every three years.

This is the perfect used vehicle to buy…but deep down I prefer the 16-21 LC. But Again, I’m cheap.
Same except older models. Was shopping for ones under $30k before covid. There were like 5 LXs with 89k-150k within 250 miles and only 1 LC in that price range with 200k+. Was a no brainer going with a '10 LX with 116k and full dealer service records.

Getting closer to that 60/40 split some of you projected.

Lots of differences LX vs LC, but a big one is the luxury brand perception. I could have bought an LX or G-wagon, but feeling a lot safer with the sombrero on my grill. Nobody perceives my LC as anything special, not thieves or mostly peaceful protestors, and not even Toyota enthusiasts. I've stood and talked to a guy with a new Taco, all lifted and kitted out for overlanding. I mentioned my Land Cruiser, he asked where it was, it was right in front of us, disguised as a Highlander I guess.

In the Great Depression and War Years, wealthy people couldn't take their luxury cars and boats out much. That was when society was civil. I fear it will be much worse if we have any kind of social upheaval today.

And that is why I think the LC is truly the greatest survival vehicle today.

Also easier to attach a bull bar to a LC than an LX.

I bought my ‘13 LC in 2018 (with 50k miles). I had actually been looking for a low mile/ clean LX for several months at the time, but locally in PNW there were not any bargains for LX vs LC. I would have been fine with a 2013-2015 LX if I could have found a decent deal and would still grab one now if I found one. Ended up finding a great deal on CPO clean, rust free LC. Since then, dealer replaced recirc unit and multi touch display under warranty. I just replaced the radiator with 83k on the clock.

LX here. I'll be the first to admit that I would have rather bought Toyota but ended up with a Lexus because it was cheaper and easier to find. I am a thrifty/frugal/cheap person, and even as my income has gone up considerably in life, my decisions are still guided by my cheap-assery, sometimes to a fault. :hillbilly:

If it wasnt for this forum, it members and the LC name no one would believe this. Imagine taking a camry over an ES because its cheaper.

You mean ES over Camry because it is cheaper?

Speaking of which, it would be interesting to profile our interests here too. We often talk past each other as there's different build goals. Maybe something like "What are you building your car for: rockcrawling, overlanding, weekender, commuter, maller?"

Yep, I’m curious what that might look like too. Let’s see this poll. Stratify the poll by vehicle year (if possible) and maybe we find something we might all intuit anyway. I.e. my 2021 will NOT be built into an expensive rock crawler :)

Well, not while under warranty anyway.

Similar poll just run on one of the FB groups. Reverse numbers.
