Do we need to replace front rear and transfer case oil on the first 1k kms

Of the top my head I don’t recall. I’ll have to dig up the receipt...

So I had to run into a dealer today while doing errands to pick up some SLL coolant for one of the other cars, took my owner's manual in with me to ask about the transfer fluid. Counter guy had never heard of this one, so he had to do some searching. Found a part number 08885-81080. His price, at the counter, with no discount, no begging? $93.25 PER LITER. Even he was shocked.

Price from McGeorge is only $55.03, not as bad, but still... gonna wait on this one. I still think the Amsoil 75W-90 would be fine in there. Will probably do the diffs this weekend.

How much for the diff fluid?

I didn't ask. I'm all set on that.

What did they charge you when you supplied the gear oil?

At 14.5K they charged me $71.95 total for front, rear and t-case (and I had to lend them my hand pump to do the refill because none of their techs had one).

At 40K I was charged $62.50 each for front, rear and t-case (but they had their own hand pump ).

If I’d looked more closely at the more recent bill when I paid it, we clearly would have discussed the discrepancy between the two service appointments....

That’s what I thought dealers do this so infrequently that they don’t know what to charge the Lexus dealer one of them told me that it took three or 4 pints in the front and a couple in the rear when it’s really Qts so they don’t know what they’re doing so the best bet to me as you go in and let them charge you less then what the fluid costs and do the job because obviously the tech will keep filling it up until it’s full
