In the picture below is a wire that broke. Any advice on where to buy a replacement? Or if you can pop off the black cap or not to try and reconnect the wires? You can see where the tip of the red is sticking out

I'm not familiar with 40's but I am with old vehicles in general. It looks like it's just a rubber boot protecting what is most likely a ring terminal or similar with a nut or screw holding it on. The boot might not be flexible anymore so it could crack or fall apart. To get you going again, just pull the boot and if you have enough reach for the broken wire, crimp on a new ring terminal. Or whatever it takes to reattach it.

You can just repair the connection. PIA to do in place. I'm sure you can find a new connector with a wire to put into the green connector.

Slide black cover unit off the dizzy lug. Unscrew/unplug the red wire from the inside of black insulation unit. Uncrimp/unsolder the connector, put in longer wire.

Depin the connector housing and crimp a new terminal onto a new pigtail and reinsert it into the housing. Takes five minutes. Both Coolerman and @ToyotaMatt have the connector housings and terminals.

Looks like you just need a new ring terminal under that black cap? If that plastic connector is fine, you can just replace the terminal and rubber seal on the back.
