OK I followed this guide and put in the new O-ring as I've had a very slow oil leak onto my upper radiator hose since I got the truck last year.

However I noticed a small amount of oil residue in the distributor cap which makes me wonder if the inner seal (the one that isn't easy to replace) is going as well.
See pics, let me know what you think?

I cleaned up the oil as best I could and put the new O-ring in, so I'll see if that cures it, just curious what people with more experience think about it.

thanks! time.

Just did mine yesterday and replaced the cap, rotor and Also rubber ring that goes between the cap and distributor. Yours looks better than mine did, seal her up and go.

The shaft seal tends to leak a bit with age, no easy way to replace that internal seal. I clean mine using CRC Quick Dry Electronics Cleaner about once a year. Do NOT use Carb or Brake cleaner, that will damage the seals and other plastic/rubber components.

Noticed your aftermarket radiator hose; the Toyota radiator hoses
last forever, fit correctly, and are not expensive. Better IME to use the OEM style clamps with the OEM hoses.

FWIW.

Thanks for the notes and feedback. I did just seal it up and am waiting to see if the leak is cured before proceeding...if it is, @Kernal I do plan to replace that hose but I don't want to do it until I'm sure it won't be oily like this one within a month. I cut my hand on those clamps so if nothing else the fancier constant pressure clamps are going in soon.

Appreciate it, hoping mine was an easy fix.

Only thing I can see wrong with his hose and clamp is the clamp "tang" looks like it was trimmed and is ready for surgery! o_O
