as a side note, i backed into my house slowly due to poor light. left a rubber inprint of the tire on the stucco....no cracking or other damage. the right tire swing out has moved slightly as evidenced by higher friction load on the pladtic slide (bearing). i do know that ii wasn't able to use a torque wrench on the swing out mounting bolt due to lack of space. those 4 bolts were tightened to feel (which ain't easy @ 65 ft-lbs (?) using std open ended wrenches and hands).
I did paint all mouinting bolts prior, and did see evidence of some movement (probably due to setteling in in response to hightway vibrations).

I now carried 3 non elec. MTBs (so lets say ~45kg) on the swing arm a few times on the road, no offroad/ dirt roads yet.
Generally it moves a bit more compared to the real hitch and you can see it when parking and applying some weight, but especially for the road no issue at all.
Having the convenience of being able to swing it away is surely nice and you can easily access your gear in the trunk!

I can't tell if that's bolted on or welded on (the receiver).

Upon closer inspection, I think it's welded and you would have to swap out the entire accessory arm with the tray/basket.... otherwise you would have to go custom.

one thing i observed (should have anticipated) with the swing out receiver, it's obviously offset from the rigs factory receiver (bias to the hinge).
that caused me some concern w/r to bike tray type mounts (like 1-up, etc.) in that the entire load is then offset wich could be a problem in a forested envornment (one part of bike sticking out on the side more than center mount).
Solution untested: use a exteded drop hitch, but mount sideways. different load, but those things are pretty stout.

I had the Dissent jerry can swingout, but it was really only for use with my 1up bike rack. But then I found my old RakAttach clears the tire carrier swingout just fine. So I sold the jerry can swingout and just use the RakAttach when I load up the bikes. Impacts the departure angle for sure, but I normally don't drive technical trails with the bike rack on.
Dissent's latching mechanism is innovative and very easy (and probably too minimal if you ask me), but still, the tailgate access is much nicer with only 1 swingout bolted on.

Maybe I’ll go this route. Seeing this photo makes me miss my 98 100. Same color and everything.
w/r to "...to minimal...", I too have thought about that. Potential solution: match drill safety pin clearance hole thru bumper and hand latche. insert a short lanyarded ball detent safety pin, won't vibrate out (in theory), easy to install/remove. Just an idea.
I have used my Rig'd Supply dual bike rack on the swing arm. I think the aluminum swing out flexes quite a bit under the weight of the Rig'd Supply rack. It works great but the bikes seem to move up and down quite a bit when compared to it being attached to the center hitch location.
I am trying to figure out if the Rig'd Supply RambleSwing will work with my Dissent swing out arm .. currently emailing with Rig'd now to figure it out.
I am switching from the Aluminum Tray Swing-out to the Overland Panels Swing-out (Joolca shower and recovery gear going here and cooler moving inside the trunk).
Family has grown from 3 to 5 .. so need a Yeti 65 in lieu of my 45 these days ..

a classic "overland" quandry....family growing = more weight....have to back off from somewhere to stay in spec gvwr. that results in lighter materials elswhere like bumer structures...no win situation or bigger truck.
Literally did exactly that after having my rack swing open with bikes on 2x on the freeway. no worries any more.
Wife is in queue for LX700h Overtrail .. so once that's paid off I'll get rid of my 100 series and take the LX700h as the overland rig, the Dissent guys will get a call for that in about 6 years time ...
I have thought about going the Power Wagon or Tundra route .. but I love being able to daily my 100 series around Denver easily. Don't have enough funds to grab a Power Wagon and hold onto the 100 series .. unfortunately.
