I know this thread is out there somewhere, but I had an idea and i don't think i have seen it out there yet. I had a 95 nissan pathfinder LE that had rear disc brakes. I was thinking that might be a great option for the cruiser. keep it japan and so much easier to work on. I have tried the GM ones and those crush washers drove me crazy and the parking brake never worked.

i was thinking of taking the whole set up off a nissan from a pull yard and fab it up to the cruiser.

What do ya think?

I'd like to see some other options besides the old El Dorado calipers in the back. I'm sure you're going to have to custom fab some of the parts, but it would be nice to see another rear disc brake option, that's for sure!

Keep us posted!

Tinker is in your area and he is doing a FF rear axle with all toyota parts. I think that he may be using front calipers on cut down knuckles, but you should check with him. He is using a disc brake on the tcase for his ebrake.

There's gotta be something better than those horrific Chubby disk conversions...I keep wanting to convert, but its not worth the $$, nor the end results (I'm anal, and dont want a half-arsed job). If you figure it out let me know!

I am definitely going to check it out. I was pretty unhappy with the GM conversion. I checked out tinker's thread but he has not posted anything yet. I am hoping to get to the pull yard this next weekend.

I read an article somewhere where a guy used tundra discs and calipers.

i didn't make it to the junk yard this weekend. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have some kinda report on the nissan rear disc brake idea.
