The lights work off a switched ground. Your lights are all working properly other than the switch setting, so either you have bad switches or there is a missing ground bus on the light that feeds the switch. Ground is supplied by 2 of the 4 screws that fix the housing to the roof. If you remove the light it should be obvious if checked with a meter.

You, sir, are a gentleman AND a scholar. Thank you, that was spot on - works now.

Appears as though this was successful. Dome and map lights work as they should. No power to sunroof controls.

Thanks for the help!

I have a 1997 LX450 andI did the same as you did, took out the blue with black strip wire but it turned that not only the sunroof control lost it's power but all of the
cabin lights (front map light and both dome and rear cargo lights) and the door courtesy lights lost their power. Has anybody has the same results as mine? TIA

Thought I should add my data point here too.

This doesn't answer the most recent thread bumper (sorry), but years ago in my 95 I pulled the overhead switch panel and just disconnected the sunroof switch plugs before closing everything back up. I don't recall it being complicated or difficult and I didn't have to consult the EWD. I didn't cut any wires, and all my lights still work. I carefully sealed my leaky sunroof with some clear RTV silicone, haven't missed it and not a drop has leaked in since. I wanted it to be a reversible modification since I figured I may want to replace the sunroof someday (turns out I don't).
