Did some wheeling today, got my drivers side tire stuck pretty good in a narrow but deep "ditch." Spun the tire a couple times a before I got out; side-wall got scuffed up a little but I noticed some dirt and little pebbles stuck between the tire bead and the rim. I think I can get an awl or a screw driver to get most of it out, but is this something I should be worried about? Thanks

naw probally fine if it isnt leaking air then who cares.

No biggie unless there's a good bit of debris in there. Just be carefull with a screwdriver, and clean them up. Could offset your balance though! (as he's got a few sticks, and a 1 lb rock wedged in there).:hhmm:

LOL! It's not that bad. I'll just try to clean it up as best as I can. Just didn't know if it would un-seat my tire while going down the road. Thanks guys!

naw wont unseat it if anything it will push it and make a firmer seal.

Figure I'll at least post up what I got myself into-

I meant to go off the road. what i wanted to do was drive over the ditch and straddle it, but the earth gave way to the awesome-ness above it :)

sweet looking rig. maybe next time a more direct approach would keep that from happening?...

it can make for good stories tho so its all good.

Dirt and small rocks trapped in the bead can cause leaks, BTDT. In fact I just had that problem on our club Christmas tree run.

What I did to correct it was jack the tire up off of the ground and let all the air out. I then used a couple large straight-blade screwdrivers to pry the bead back off of the rim edge about 1/4 inch. I then used compressed air to blow the dirt and rocks out of the bead.

Bwahahahaha :lol::lol:

Those ditches on the side of the roads have called my name a time or two. I lost a bead crossing a puddle, unaware of the tire ruts I was about to hit. We dragged it back out the way I went in, and swapped to the spare. Guys at the tire shop asked if I wanted it cleaned out before they reseated the bead, but since the 60 is a trailer queen, I told them not to worry about it.

If you daily drive that 60, might be best to clean it out (per c-dan's advice). let all the air out tho, make it a bit more flexible to work with.
