First of all my new Centerforce clutch/pressure plate kit is now installed and works great!!! Thanks for all the input:). Now my next question is that my FJ60 when it has been running for awhile and is nice and warmed up "diesels" when I go to shut her down. You know the sputtering and and carrying on!!!!:frown: I have been told that this could be caused by excess carbon deposits or maybe the engine is running to hot. My temp guage never goes past half but then again maybe that's off. So I thought maybe some of you out there could offer me some advice on how to remedy this. Thanks!!!!!

It could be carbon deposits, but there's a good chance that your ignition timing is off.

Carbon deposits x2. Easy fix: Take a squirt bottle of water and spritz a bunch of water into the carb while its running. I know it sounds weird but it works great and wont harm anything (unless you try to put a gallon in all at once) Just spray the water into the carb and the carbon will be steam cleaned from the cylinders.

Dynosoar:zilla:

What Dynosoar said will work. It's not ignition timing, when you turn the key off you essentially kill the ignition but the vacuum signal at the carb continues, therefore the engine will draw fuel and if there is a source for ignition in the cylinder, like carbon deposits that can glow red hot after running, it will just continue to struggle along. I had the same issue when I obtained my 60. I gave it two Sea Foam treatments on the same day and it never happened again. ATF or water will also work, but I can tell you that Sea Foam is an amazingly effective product.

Sea Foam does work well, I would recommend changing the oil after running it through as dislodged deposits/sludge and slightly thinned oil can make a mess. I used the vacuum hose to the brake booster to aspirate the product directly from the can. I delivered half of the can through the hose and poured the other half into the crankcase via the oil cap, it smokes like a mother so find a well ventilated area.

Sea foam is a great product! I use it here in Alaska on all my equipment including our cruisers.

I've done the seafoam method before and it did clean up my engine significantly but I still can't get the dieseling to stop. I know when I lean out my carb some it lightens up but I haven't completely gotten over it.

Are you dumping the Sea Foam right down the carb when the engine is hot and running, then flooding it to the point that it stalls, then restarting after about ten minutes? This is The Drill. It puts out a very impressive smoke screen, but the carbon goes away. One more thing, are you running a stock carb, or something else?

Thanks for the input!!!

Thanks for all the input guys.....I am gonna try and do that this turkey day weekend. I'll let ya know how it goes....Lenny.;)

Mine was dieseling after repeated seafoam treatments and timing checks and tuneups. I had a huge exhaust manifold leak (I assume the intake leaked as well), and when I fixed that it fixed the dieseling.
