What's your preferred diesel additive? Until now I've always used Flashlube but it's been suggested by a few very knowledgable people that I should be using Chemtech diesel additive instead. I don't know anything about the chemistry of those products but mostly the need for using additives in older diesel engines is due to changes in fuels and older motors not having the ECU's, etc. of modern mostly common-rail diesel motors for 'modulating' their operation to suit varying performance parameters.

I've never heard of either of those, different continents probably have different options available for this kind of thing.

Here in Canada, we need to worry about fuel gelling when it gets to -35C which I'm sure does't come up often in Australia, lol.

Power Service, and Howes seem to be popular around here.

I typically don't bother now that all the stations I frequent have biodiesel mixed in, eliminates the lubricity issues that were common with running ULSD in older engines.

If it's really cold I will add anti-gel. I had diesel gel on me the first winter I had my truck, was not a fun time changing out a fuel filter at -35.

bio-diesel is very difficult to find here. And yes the problems of really cold temps don't really occur much here since Australian winters aren't anything like those in Europe and North America/Canada/Alaska

my long gone w123 mercedes diesels loved lubro moly diesel purge
